1995 Pontiac Sunfire SE
Summary:
Pontiac, Sunfire: Be afraid, be very afraid...
Faults:
The head gasket is leaking.
Anti-freeze seeps from the car.
The starter went out.
The alternator stopped working.
The air does not work.
Transmission had to fixed.
General Comments:
The car looks very nice, but I have had problem after problem. My first car was a Pontiac 6000, which ran beautifully. When I graduated from college my youth told me it was time to move up and get another car. In hindsight, I should have kept the 6000.
AAA is a great service to have if you own this car. If you don't have AAA, get something in a hurry. The most annoying problem is the broken air- conditioner. I live in North Carolina where the humidity can be out-of-this-world in the summer. I have suffered a many days in this car. Sweating in traffic is no fun.
I have since given the car to my wife so she can get back in forward to work. I had to have the transmission fixed. That sucked down about $700.
I just had to have a Pontiac when I bought it because I figured it would be as reliable as the old 6000. I was sadly mistaken.
Stay away from the 1995 Sunfire!
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? No

I have a '95 Sunfire.. and I just wanted to add to your comment about the air conditioning - MINE WENT OUT TOO! And, I live in Minnesota... definitely have some hot, humid summers here. It sucks! I'm getting a new car soon, though. So, that will be nice. :) Besides the air conditioning, I have had no other problems. I would consider myself completely satisfied with my car! I love it!

I must agree about the 1995 Sunfire GT. At first it was a nice looking car, however though I purchased the vehicle do to the fact that I totalled my Honda and my job requires me to drive about 3,000 miles a month. The Sunfire gets great gas mileage and was a great price. however, now I have forked out about $400 so far to just keep it going. Now I am looking to spend around $700 for a new transmission. So just a word for the wise, the Sunfire is the perfect car for a 16 year old high school girl! if you aren't either you might want to keep looking for a car!
