1985 Porsche 928 S 5.0 V8 32V
Summary:
A living, breathing, loyal warrior of a dying breed
Faults:
The 1985 Porsche 928S is truly, PERFECT artwork in motion or standing still. Do not purchase one of these highly advanced & prestigious creations of automotive history if you have to worry about an expense of any type.
The 928S is exactly that.. A perfect automotive creation built between 30 and 12 years ago (respectively), by the highest regarded German engineers & craftsmen in the world... And what they made was TRUE perfection!
Enter the Porsche 928S 32V automotive masterpiece. Any and all automobiles will have issues & problems, especially 12 to 30 year old super cars due mainly to the owner's enthusiasm or lack there of.
Records of service & preventative maintenance, as well as vehicle history, are essential to purchasing one of these machines. Parts are expensive, but you will barely need them as long as you do what is required.
Finally, the true key to these phenomenal machines is your decision of who will do the necessary work when these infrequent times occur. My advice is that you don't use just any of the current & highly regarded Porsche Factory technicians (usually, younger & mainly experienced in 911s')... But that you do take the time to find a true Porsche 928 german Master Technician (as I have), who PRIDES himself on his work & knowledge of these masterpieces.
General Comments:
The GOLDEN RULE: The 1985 Porsche 928S 32V is the most perfect super car ever made... As long as you treat this piece of art with the respect to which it deserves... It will always find in its 5.0 Litre (Black Forest) soul to never fall from your GRACE!
Find yourself a well cared for example with all service records, & conduct the routine & preventative maintenance with the RIGHT 928S Technician/ARTIST, and I truly believe you will encounter a smile on you face every time you engage the ignition... For ALL FUTURE YEARS TO COME.
I personally have owned several immaculate Porsche models throughout the years and currently, 911's, 944's & 928S. With that prior knowledge & experience, it is with fair ease that I consider the 928S the king of its automotive domain.
STYLE, INTEGRITY, RELIABILITY, PERFORMANCE, LUXURY, & ITS UNWAIVERING SOUL & DESIRE TO PLEASE ITS DRIVER/OWNER.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

Timing belt went at 35000 miles! I drove 100,000 miles on my car and then replaced it without any problem. Porsche recommended 45000-60000 miles interval in the old days, but with new belt technology they new interval is 100,000 miles if you your water-pump, tensioner and rollers are in good working condition. You better not be in the Porsche part business making 928 owners paranoid.
