2006 SAAB 9-3 Wagon 2.0L 4 cylinder turbo

Summary:

Great value and a pleasure to drive

Faults:

I bought this car at a cheap price knowing it needed some repair and maintenance. Once those things were taken care of, the car has been superb. I like Saabs (having owned several) and this one is really good. Nothing has gone wrong for me.

General Comments:

Solid! My wife now hates her Honda which she claims is an old tin can compared to the Saab. This car has zero squeaks or rattles. Very quiet. The combination of roominess, speed and efficiency is quite amazing. When you need oooompf, this car has it.

2006 SAAB 9-3 2.0 turbo gas

Summary:

Great little car

Faults:

Front sway bar links.

Rear control arms.

Fuel pump.

Fuel sender.

CD player.

Amplifier.

General Comments:

Bought the car used, of course, and mainly because of the color, of all things. My wife wanted a brightly colored car, and I like Saabs, so that's how we ended up with our nice, red 9-3.

All-in-all a great little car. We drove it to Florida several times with no incidents. It's a great highway car. The 2.0 turbo motor has a nice push when you get into it, but still gets great mileage. On one flat stretch of road we got as high as 36 MPG running at 70 - 75 mph.

The main reliability issue we had with it was the fuel pump. We had an intermittent issue with it that left my wife stranded a couple of times. Once identified and replaced, it was fine.

The suspension parts were worn when I bought it and made some rattling noise. Once replaced, there was no issue.

The fiber optic stereo system is a bit of a pain if you wish to modify it. Basically, it can't be done easily.

In spite of these issues, we really loved the car, and are only rid of it due to being totaled as a result of a deer hit. I'm considering another, but I'm exploring other vehicles with lower insurance costs.

It should be noted that I do all my own repairs. Repairs at a garage would likely make the car unaffordable.

Good bye, little friend.

2006 SAAB 9-3 ARC 2.0

Summary:

Enjoyable car to drive

Faults:

Rear suspension clunk - to be fixed.

Low beam headlights dim - cleaned - better.

Fuel indicator non-functioning - sender replaced.

General Comments:

Quick car for a 2.0.

Handles nicely. Makes me think about getting rid of my 9000 Aero.

Seats seem like they would be uncomfortable, but have taken several long trips without incident.

Great highway car.

My wife drove all winter and had no problems with snow / ice with snows on the front.

2006 SAAB 9-3 SS Aero Combi 2.8

Summary:

Decent car so far, and it's sure fun to drive

Faults:

Wipers have stopped functioning properly.

Wiper washers have malfunctioned.

Driver's seat is showing signs of wear on the bolster.

Sometimes the key does not want to leave the ignition, and you have to re-start the car and shut it off, to get it to turn to the off position.

General Comments:

The car is a very nice car, although I have not had it long - it is a pleasure to drive. Plenty of power and pick up when needed.

The dash is overly complicated, but looks cool. I cannot upgrade to an aftermarket GPS-navigational system, which I would like to do these systems, I have been told, will not fit. A lot of the 'info' information is just 'stuff', and a bit too gimmicky. The big screen, which could hold a GPS, is basically a big screen, to ask me which music source I want to switch to.

It has plenty of room for mine or the kid's sports equipment, and it is not at all boring to drive.

Fuel economy is okay - but you really see the gauge move if you push too long. I think my 325ic was better on gas.
