1989 SAAB 9000 Turbo 2.0 turbo

Summary:

Wish it was American so I could understand whats going on inside.. (electrically nightmarish)

Faults:

Battery doesn't hold charge well.

Power leak most likely.

Doesn't always like to go into reverse.

Power window motor broke.

Electrical nightmare...

Fuel gauge jumps. It will read what is actually in the tank for about two seconds then jump to empty for about two seconds.. Then back to actual reading.

Rear hatch MUST be opened from the inside of the car.

General Comments:

Car is pretty quick, only because of the turbo.

Cabin does feel fairly spacious.

Runs pretty smooth for an old car.

1989 SAAB 9000 S

Summary:

Among the best luxury cars in the 80's

Faults:

Belt tensioner broke at 196,000 miles.

Voltage meter on the dash faded until gone.

Power windows and sunroof buttons no longer stay lit.

Headlights go out at worst possible time.

Rear lift gate does not open.

General Comments:

This car with all of it's minor flaws is very reliable.

It has never died on me without giving warning first.

The most comfortable car I have ever driven on long distances.

The roomiest interior ever.

This Saab handles rather well for a car with over 200k on the clock.

Very, very slow. At least 20 seconds to reach average highway speeds.

1989 SAAB 9000 CD 2.0 turbo

Summary:

A great car for the money.

Faults:

So far the only things that have gone wrong with the car is that the sunroof and the climate control display does not always work.

General Comments:

The car is very quick and has a great top speed for a four cylinder. I have only taken it up to 70 miles per hour, but it took the car no effort to reach.

The seats are very comfortable and have power reclining. The car looks great for a vehicle from the 80's. When I first saw it for sale I thought is was a mid 90's car.

The car does not look too big, but inside is huge the car comfortably seats 4 but can seat 5. The trunk is huge and can hold a lot of cargo.

The car is a very great value for the performance I got the car for $2,400.

1989 SAAB 9000 CE 2.0 turbo

Summary:

Fast!

Faults:

Engine replaced after turbo went at 150,000.

Motor mounts have all been replaced several times.

Water pump at 162,000.

Alternator at approximately 180,000.

Defroster fan broke, 193,000.

General Comments:

This car handles exceptionaly well, and I drive it like a race car! Corners well at high speeds and very quick off the line! It certainly is a sleeper, I have surprised many high performance cars.

It is a very fun car to drive and I love it, but I don't think I'd buy another one, I learned on a Porsche, and I'll die in a Porsche! But I must say, the 9000 turbo was a close comparison speed wise, top end on mine currently is 144 MPH, the 924 was only 157 MPH.

I agree I had an 89 9000 to and it just fell apart I got it with 111,000 on it and got 10000 more before it crapped out.

Wrong!!! This car is a very large sedan, extremely comfortable and an awsome automobile!!! My Saab is still going strong at 250k. Take better care of it and do some regular service every now and then and you should be all set! The Saab 9000 is a wonderful car with only a little love!

1989 SAAB 9000 Turbo Talladega 2.3 turbo

Summary:

Worth the money for the performance and style

Faults:

Nothing major has gone wrong with my 9000T.

2 out of my 4 windows fell off of the track costing me 85 dollars to fix.

Needed a new battery which is pretty normal for any kind of car.

Rear speakers blew slightly making a rattling noise if I turn the bass up on the equalizer.

General Comments:

This car has a lot of pep for a 205 horsepower 4 cylinder turbo engine.

The manufacturer's quote of 0-60 m.p.h. says 8.2 seconds, but I have been timed at 7.1 seconds.

The heat/air conditioning make a chirping noise whenever I press on the brake hard, it sounds like a bird almost.

The car is definitely worth the money that you would pay for it.

The twin exhaust system I put on there really makes a lot of difference to the cars' appearance.

My SAAB 9000 Talladega Turbo is all black with tinted headlights, and smoked windows.

It makes all the difference in the world when you add on a body kit and lower the springs on the 9000T.

1989 SAAB 9000 S 2.0 non-turbo

Summary:

Can't get a better car for the money

Faults:

Bulb failures galore.

3 out of 4 windows quit.

The exhaust has broken numerous times.

All brake pads, rotors, and calipers have been replaced.

Had to wire the cooling fan to run all of the time due to overheating.

Speakers blow about once a month.

Electronically slow/stupid.

Broken motor mounts.

General Comments:

I have put tons of money into the thing, but also had lots of help from the junkyard.

The car has never once left me stranded, even for a flat tire.

Surprisingly quick for a non-turbo 4 banger.

Can't argue with 30+ miles per gallon.

Extremely comfortable heated leather seats.

Climate control is terribly annoying with no "OFF" switch.

I got one of those great Saab 9000 Turbos.

I had the same trouble due to overheating, I just bought a new cooling fan temperature switch and that fixed the problem.

There have been very few problems, but I had to rebuild the auto-transmission.

1989 SAAB 9000

Summary:

It was a steal when I got it for 2k at the auction, it is a nice luxury car but gets old

Faults:

Water pump.

High pressure hose.

Some dash lights.

General Comments:

You get a nice boost when the turbo kicks in.

The leather interior is nice along with the sun-roof.

Heated seats!

I'm just looking for better mpg, occasional highway and city driving I get 20 mpg.
