2001 Saturn L200 4 cylinder

Summary:

Reliable car for 8 years

Faults:

I am the original owner, and had not had any major problems with my car until fall 2008. Since then I have had a new water pump, fuel pump, heater core, and axle shaft. Given the miles and age of the car I am not surprised. My mechanic said it should make it to 200K miles, but I'm not so sure.

General Comments:

This car exceeded my expectations. I bought it new when I really needed a car, but did not expect it to last past 5 years. I had no desire to buy an American car, but the Saturn dealer was so nice I caved. It has run great the entire time until last fall. I plan on driving it until it finally quits.

2001 Saturn L200

Summary:

Wonderful car with minimal problems

Faults:

I just wanted to post a comment that wasn't all bad.

I have had the L200 from 2001, and the only thing that has been an issue so far was that I recently went on a small road trip of about 700 miles, and during that trip my engine mount side bracket snapped in half. NOT a manufacturing defect, I think. Cost 200 bucks to fix, but other that that I have had a great time with this car, except I'm 6'2" and I barely fit in it.

Hey, where did you get that bracket from? The same thing happened on my brother's l200 and I can't find a replacement bracket anywhere, tried calling all parts stores and still no luck.

2001 Saturn L200 4 cylinder

Summary:

Good for the right price CHEAP

Faults:

I am having the timing chain replaced by Saturn it has not broken yet... I found out about the recall by searching the Internet. I was a little surprised that I was not notified by mail. When I first purchased the car I did bring it in for a tail light recall. I can't complain too much I purchased the car for only $2,500 and spent around $600 on replacement parts such as a new starter tires and a battery and brakes (I do most of the work myself. It is great on gas and has a enormous trunk & handles rides well. For the money it makes a good used car however I would only buy one it it was a steal like this one. It does not compete well with Japenese cars as far as reliability it is probebly close to Volkswagen Jettas in that area just not as cool lol.

General Comments:

This car is a total lemon. We bought this car new and it has been nothing but trouble. I know cars and it is well taken care of.

Saturn is useless and should be put out of business for making junk like this. Everyone should get their money back.

This is why people have to buy foreign cars. You cannot afford not to.

2001 Saturn L200 2.2 liter

Summary:

Lemon

Faults:

A factory recall of timing chain, and a factory recall of tail light sockets; both of these were done by the dealership at no charge.

Hydraulic clutch failed. It was sucking air at the master cylinder, and I have temporarily fixed it with tape.

The headlights and dash lights pulsate.

The exhaust manifold has cracked in several places.

The gauges and idiot lights freaked out on me for no apparent reason.

I will not buy another GM car again. My last one was a Pontiac Transport that I had to fix daily.

I have an 1987 Jeep Wagoneer with 280000 miles, and it is the most reliable and well built vehicle I have ever owned.

General Comments:

It gets great gas mileage.
