Faults:

The water pump went and my fiance is just replacing the transmission.

Besides normal things that go wrong with ALL cars (brakes, belts, and liquid levels) it runs like heaven!!!

General Comments:

It's my first car and have no major complaints and honestly I have been around cars with all my boyfriends being mechanics and all. and to me all cars are crappy they don't last forever especially after 80,000 my fiance has a 93 ford f150 and it gives him problems too. for what this has been through and crap it runs better then I expect. I wouldn't mind buying a ion when I get some money. I could go about 300 miles and not really fill up once either. you just have to do regular matinance on all cars. even I'm still learning all the things you should do yearly and after so many miles.

I do have one question... were is the stock transmission made from?

And my fiance who is a FORD TOUGH man likes my car and has no problems with it.

Faults:

Alternator at 90,000 km

Front wheel bearings at 285,000 km

Clutch at 285,000 km

Belt tensioner at 314,000 km.

General Comments:

An excellent car that has lasted WAY past my expectations. Although is now near it's end, it is still a reliable car that has never left me stranded.

Faults:

After purchasing the vehicle. I spent $648.00 for the 50,000 mile typical warranty inspection and tune-up. The only other work performed was the installation of new brackets related to the manual transmission.

General Comments:

Overall, I am very pleased with my purchase. The car has low ground clearance and not much suspension.

Faults:

I do love my Saturn SL1. If I had any complaints, it would be that as soon as it turned 5 years old, my rotors wore out. I've had to get brake shoes/pads more than once.

It's not the easiest car to warm up quickly.

There are now a lot of pings and knocks when I turn it off, as well as some interior vibrating when driving.

And I've had a constant problem with my 'check engine light' coming on, because of something called a PVC cap or valve. Something I'm told is not crucial to have replaced right away, but does need to be replaced eventually.

General Comments:

I will tell anyone who asks, that my next car will be a Saturn.

Gas mileage is great.

Rides very well, although it's not the fastest car there is.

The body still looks good, despite some efforts by shopping carts to ruin it.

It's easy to maintain yourself if you are car handy.

Faults:

Ball joints replaced 2 times.

Timing belt replaced and still makes noise.

Driver seat worn and metal coming true.

Transmission rev up and bad shifting.

Doors leak (seals).

High oil consumption.

General Comments:

This car is a nightmare to own. Its uncomfortable to drive and handles very poorly. When turning into a parking space very hard to manuuver around other cars, for a mid size car its hard to park.
