2005 Subaru Outback 2.5i
Summary:
Reliable, good performance, and fuel efficient
Faults:
I've had no major problems with the car to this point.
The headlights went bad more frequently than I would have expected, but they were replaced for free under the 36k warranty.
The factory tires wear down a little faster than normal since the car is all wheel drive.
The only problem that I've noticed is that the rear end starts to sway when driving faster than 40 mph on ice when there is cargo or passengers in the back.
General Comments:
The Outback has been a great car for winter driving. It's also fuel efficient (22/26mpg city/hwy) and handles really well. Big tires, high clearance, and all wheel drive make this a great ride off-road or in the snow. Folding seats in the back are also great for putting gear in the back.
All around great ride.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

The rear end swaying is a known problem called 'ghostwalking'. Fixes include a re-alignment to new 2007 TSB specs, with 100-300lbs of simulated weight in the back during alignment, or upgrading the rear shocks.
