2001 Suzuki XL-7 Touring Edition
Summary:
Good Reliable Basic Transportation
Faults:
I have had only minor things happen to this car. I received it from the dealer out of alignment, but it was corrected under warranty.
Also both of the rear tail lights blew out and had to be replaced at about 50k.
The driver's side door lock became loose and the door did not close correctly. This was just a quick tightening of the hinge located on the body.
One of the fog lights was damaged by a stone, and was insanely expensive to replace.
Somewhere in the front dash there is a rattling sound that I cannot find.
The key-less entry stopped working, and the dealer tried to sell me a whole new module for $325.00, so I installed myself an alarm, remote starter, and key-less entry system with after market parts ($300.00). It is a nice upgrade in the winter.
General Comments:
Overall it has been a very reliable car, considering the purchase price.
This vehicle is based on a truck frame so be careful in the snow.
The OEM Bridgestone tires do nothing to help in the snow, get rid of them immediately.
The interior is tight and the plastic scratches easily. The seats become uncomfortable on a long trip, and lack the correct adjustments to the steering wheel. The door panel is not wide enough to rest your elbow while driving.
I load up my whole family and feel secure we are going to get where ever we are going.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

Me too, man. Went from Rabbit (great) to Golf (okay) to XL-7 and never looked back. Same pep, same handling (I'm on Michelin X-Ones), more seats and oh what a view from the driver's seat, eh? And 4WD in the winter? No comparison.
