Faults:

Interior micro-bulb behind A/C temperature display went out. These bulbs are not sold in auto stores, but they can be purchased at just about any dealership. They are very cheap and easy to replace. This is the only thing to have ever gone wrong with the vehicle!!! Incredible!

General Comments:

This model came with a Center Differential Lock, which allows the 4Runner to climb just about anything - it's a turn dial with push button diff lock, and can switch into 4HI on the fly while driving.

Very capable off road with great street manners. I get 20 miles per gallon with mixed driving, and up to 24-25 MPG on the highway.

I recommend this vehicle to everyone; I love it!

Faults:

Absolutely NOTHING. Never had a mechanical or electrical problem. ZERO problems...

General Comments:

Never had a single problem with this 4Runner since ownership in 2007.

The interior is a bit dull, but it is solid. There are no shakes or squeaks that come from any interior component. The seats are still like new. Transmission is an Aisin 5-speed, and is smoother than my Audi A8's dual clutch ZF transmission.

Faults:

The only issue I have had is the MP3 CD player. It seems to stop randomly after several hours of playing. Possibly due to overuse after several hours with the heater on.

General Comments:

All around excellent vehicle. 4WD system is fantastic and they look great.

Tires and rims are kind of an odd size which will somewhat limit your options for replacement or winter rubber.

I have been hand calculating the fuel economy and I get approx 18MPG in the city and 23MPG in the highway. The truck is still breaking in and I just just changed the oil to synthetic, so I believe it is possible to still improve 1MPG or so. These numbers aren't fantastic, but just as good as some "car" based SUVs like Subaru's and even Toyota's Highlander.

The V6 is very torquey and entirely adequate for the vehicle. The only reason I would consider a V8 is if you are towing a large trailer often. Also be aware that if you select a V8 4X4, the transfer case is automatically the "inferior" Full time transfer case. the V6 transfer case give you the option of full time if you desire it, in addition to a 2WD mode to save a bit on fuel economy and wear and tear. It boggles my mind as to why Toyota doesn't offer that in the V8.

Only other possible design flaw that comes to mind is the transfer case has no Neutral setting.

These vehicles are not cheap, but they hold their value exceptionally well and are amongst the top rated vehicles you can buy (car, truck, whatever) for overall reliability.

Faults:

There are oil leaks through the engine (~ 1 qt per month) and from trans.

Electrical problems - sometimes it does not start, now electricity. Mechanic told about battery, but it connected with alarm system. After 2-5 minutes it starts without any problems.

The steering made a screeching noise when turned to it's maximum. It was connected with iddler arm, ball joints, etc. After idler arm replacement problem was fixed.

General Comments:

I like this car, it runs great and very reliable for 190000 mileage.

Only one problem - the gas mileage is rather bad, about 13 mpg. It's too expensive...
