1990 Toyota 4x4 SR5 Extra Cab 3.0L V6
Summary:
Have never regretted the purchase!
Faults:
Had a head gasket blow at about 110k. Dealer took care of it all, minus the new oil and antifreeze.
General Comments:
I bought this truck new to replace 2 prior 4x4 pickup purchases from Toyota. Have owned it since new, and will probably never sell it.
Just replaced the front CV joints, the first time in 20 years, and have never done a u-joint. I am amazed at how minimal service has been, other than the usual timing belts, oil changes, brakes, etc.
The electricals all still work, including power windows, mirrors, antenna, cruise control, etc.
This little truck has made a believer of many of my full size truck peers in the construction industry. These trucks were built to be serious 4x4s, and as a result are incredibly overbuilt. Granted they were never meant to set records in the 1/4 mile, but they make up for it in reliability and dependability.
I have since bought a new Tundra, mainly based on my kids not fitting into the little SR5 anymore. It's another great product, but just not the same. I still would rather drive the '90.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

I am from Athens GA and have just bought a 1990 Toyota 4x4 with 171,000 original miles and everything that's been said about these trucks is true, they drive like a car even with all-terrain tires. I drove a jeep cherokee that has 230,000 miles on it and it was worn out at 130,000. I will never drive an American made automobile untill drastic improvements are made. For the money cars just do not last. There's a good chance that I will still be driving my Toyota when my neighbor's brand new explorer goes to the dump.
