1983 Toyota Camry LE 4-door hatchback 2.2 SOHC FI gas
Faults:
Timing belt replacement - 3 times.
Engine would flame out under hard acceleration or sometimes going up hill. Switching off and restarting would temporarily "solve" the problem. Sold it before properly diagnosing and fixing the cause.
General Comments:
Very well layed out car with tons of room. (e.g., I could carry a 9ft plank home inside it). Sorry they dropped this model in 86 and replaced it with wagon (estate for you Brits).
Reasonably good handling with nice gearbox and good acceleration.
Excellent fuel economy...2,500 rpm in 5th gear at 70 mph, giving 40 mp(imp)gal.
Bought it used in 1987 and drove it until 1995 and 245,000 km. Still ran strong (except for flame out problem) but starting to rust.
FYI - This report is from Vancouver, BC.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

I think that this website is good that you guys have section on what might be wrong with your car.
But what would help more is if you guys had the torques and timing for all of the engine.
