Faults:

For as long as I've owned it, there's been no big bad surprises mechanically.

It leaks oil, but did when I got it.

The rear shocks are completely gone, now. Even running on just the springs, it's pretty smooth.

Adding oil every week, and the clutch fluid reservoir leaks, but I can't complain for $500.

General Comments:

Toyota can't seem to do anything wrong, in my eyes.

Has plenty of power for city driving.

Very comfortable ride, nice and roomy.

The power moon roof is a good feature.

Faults:

Car was in great shape (and still is) when I bought it. Changed the front rotors (pulsing brakes),changed the timing belt at same time (to be safe). No repairs since this time. I do change the oil approx. 3x per year (cheap insurance)

General Comments:

This is the best car I've ever owned and I've owned a few! The car drives and looks like new. The metallic blue paint is like new and gleams on sunny days. The interior has all options and is very comfortable (I'm 6 foot 3).I particularly like the velour seats and all the electronic gadgets in the car.

The car currently has 210,000 kms and judging by other reviews I look forward to driving her for years to come.

Sometimes I sit in this car and grin sheepishly when I think that I only paid $5000 for her and don't have a car payment.

If you can find one in good condition-buy it!

Faults:

The alternator gave up at 190000km and was replaced with a used one for a total cost of $120.

Clutch plate started showing slippage and it got worse so it was replaced with a new one for a total cost of $250.

The car chassis was so rusty to work with, so changing the clutch caused a series of broken-leaking pipes and lines.

Speedometer cable broke from rust.

Leaking brake fluid line due to rust.

Broken coolant pipe due to rust.

Leaking gasoline line also due to rust.

All were replaced for a total cost of $250.

General Comments:

Mechanically, this car is an icon of reliability. The engine was never touched.

This car has a well laid and designed interior, with very comfortable seats.

Interior has proven to be of an excellent grade by retaining its quality despite the car's age.

Performance is adequate all around and gas consumption is surprisingly low.

Excellent family car if you can find one that survived Canada's harsh winters.

Faults:

The car, which had been stored properly for 10 years, was purchased in an estate sale.

I replaced the tires and all of the fluids. The automatic transmission fluid was replaced by the dynamic method, which I highly recommend.

It passed the safety check and emissions test easily.

However, the transmission exhibited slippage. I had this checked by a qualified transmission expert and it was given a clean bill of health. Due to the low mileage and the fact it had been stored for a lengthy time, it was felt that the car needed to be run in well.

General Comments:

I was happily surprised by the power of the Camry engine. It reminded me of the fun it was to drive a previously owned BMW 2002.

For a car that is 14 years old, I continue to enjoy the mechanic's double take on the year and fine condition of this vehicle.

Though I've only had the car for one month, I can easily foresee years of pleasurable driving ahead.
