1993 Toyota Camry LE 2.2L I4

Summary:

Camry is the best

Faults:

Exhaust Flex Pipe.

Driver door handle broken.

Minor oil leak.

Shocks and struts replaced.

General Comments:

Great car to have. It was my first car to own and it handled great! A few problems, but was very easy to fix. Great on gas also very fast for a 4 cyc engine.

I had to get rid of this car because I the transmission was on its way. Even before selling it, it was running with no problems.

Right now I have a 1993 Camry V6 XLE with 100,000 miles only. I am sure it will reach 200,000 miles with no problem!

I have owned this car since 1999. It now has 278787 miles on it.

Have taken excellent care of the car. Changed the engine oil every 7500 miles with Mobil 1 synthetic oil, and changed the transmission fluid every year. All 4 struts replaced.

Gas mileage is 16 MPG in the city and 22 on the highway.

Has a bit of rust on floorboard.

Changed the battery ever 4 years.

It has good tires. Tires last every 50000 miles. Get a wheel alignment done every year.

It is running like a new car. I am really surprised at the way the car drives like new, even after 21 years and that many miles.

1993 Toyota Camry LE 2.2 Liter

Summary:

264,000 miles and still counting, what more can I say?

Faults:

Transmission went once.

Radiator.

EGR valve.

Fuel filler door fell off.

Power antennae works intermittently.

Rear windshield washer pump is not working.

Hood doesn't stay up for long.

Leaks oil.

General Comments:

Other than regular oil changes, not much has been done to this car. The transmission did go, but I doubt we ever changed the fluid. We bought this car new, and had regular oil changes (every 3500 miles) and it has bulletproof reliability. Even at 250000+ miles, it keeps going and going and going.

There are small things that aren't right, but the power windows and locks and other things still work fine. The car looks good, and people are shocked that it has that many miles.

It is a wagon and with the seats down, has a tremendous amount of room. It can fit a couch in the back!

Easy to change the oil yourself, filter is on top of the engine, and drain plug is accessible without jacking up the car.

This car is so good, it gets boring. It is such a flawless, uncomplaining performer, that one takes it for granted. I really want a Volvo, or something with more distinctive styling, and more character. But I am spoiled, I don't realize how good this car is.

Follow up: The Camry hit 300,000 miles today! Unfortunately my dad was driving it so I couldn't celebrate appropriately. The car is amazing, and I change the oil every 3-4 thousand miles, but what a value! Go Toyota!

My car is now at 313,000 miles. The engine runs strong. Unfortunately 3 of the 4 power windows don't work, and someone hit the car while it was parked -- scraping the side and knocking the front headlight assembly off. So time to let it go. I did the timing belt/water pump 3 years ago (routine maintenance, which cost $1000). Last year I put in a new battery and a new alternator -- I replaced the original alternator (that was about $500). And this year I replaced the MAP sensor and distributor cap ($300). The only time it failed me was when the alternator went -- but the warning light was on and I made it about 50 miles before the car died. What a great car -- and remember the engine still runs strong!

1993 Toyota Camry LE 2.2

Summary:

Love it, hope it never dies

Faults:

Clutch after 310,000Km

Exhaust after 300,000Km including catalytic converter.

General Comments:

For it's size the car is fun to drive, for the mileage it is has good power and fuel consumption is great. does not buren a single drop of oil! It is quiet extremely reliable. the only flaw is poor handling during snow, very light on the front end. engine is quiet, and only required regular maintenance.
