Really good solid car. enough hp for a family cruiser. i drive it like a race car and it has never let me down. starts perfectly every time even at -44. it's a really great car and my next car will be a toyota again. there is 3 camrys in my family and no one has a problem with it.

My 97 V6 Camry is still going strong at 2,200,000 kms. I have owned it since 40,000 kms. Started to worry slightly after 250,000 km, but thought to myself, I'll run this car into the ground, and when it dies, it dies. The car is totally amazing!!! It just won't die!!! I travel all over Australia, and am an RACQ member, but who needs them with a Camry!!!
I change the oil and filter myself, and also the transmission fluid every 80,000 km. I also get the belts and hoses changed by my mechanic; I actually feel very sorry for him, as there is nothing for him to fix. He recommended the Camry, but may regret saying that.
I used to be a Ford man through and through, but after all the crap with the AU; seriously, sell the disgusting things before they drive you insane, and make you completely miserable; having to pump out endless dollars all over the place. Falcons used to be the benchmark, but the 98 on AUs were a disaster for everybody.
2.2 million kilometers without anything breaking is absolutely incredible. The car still runs like new, doesn't burn a drop of oil or blow any smoke. People told me to sell the Camry after 300,000 kms, but I thought that they don't understand the quality of the Camry. They thought I was crazy, but I knew THEY were crazy.
All I can say is I am totally amazed with the car. This car may look and drive a tad on the boring side, but who cares when the clock ticks over the 2 million mark, and NOTHING has gone wrong with the car. Even my boss says to me thanks for being so confident with the car. He has been getting stressed over the possibility of the car breaking down thousands of miles from Brisbane, as any tow over that sort of distance could cost a thousand dollars or more. There most probably is no other car on earth that can do this type of mileage without anything going wrong.
Sure the car looks tired and the paintwork is faded, and the interior looks rather famished, it's not quite as powerful as it used to be, but it still runs perfectly. The roof lining has totally let go, but who cares anyway, as it's only cosmetic stuff.
All I can say is the Camry delivers. Maybe it's too good, if there is such a thing.
