1987 Toyota Celica GT 2.0 twin cam 16v
Summary:
300 K and still going good
Faults:
Nothing really except for normal maintenance.
The only thing that has gone out was the starter once (it's a stick though, so I just push started it to get it home and to the mechanics).
General Comments:
I personally hated this car when I first bought it in 1991, but it has been a very good car to me; only the starter has literally gone bad.
The car handles pretty well, and still drives as good as it did when I first bought it. I didn't expect this car to make it over 170,000 miles, but hey it is past 300,000 miles and is still going strong. Toyota made a good one.
This car even outlasted my 1996 Ford Taurus, which was bought brand new. That Taurus has been sitting in my garage since 2004, needing a new engine, but I refuse to fix it due to the fact that engine threw a rod at 33,000 miles and went through 2 transmissions.
I was going to give the Celica to my son who just started driving, but I gave him the Escort GT, which only has 140,000 miles on it.
If you get a chance to buy a Celica GT in good condition with low miles, BUY IT!!!
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

Hello I am writing a response to the article I wrote: 300 k and still going good.
My Celica is now at 306611 miles now and just started burning oil. Pretty good car; I am going to limit the driving of it to only around town until it seizes and then I am going to rebuild the engine after it seizes.
GOOD JOB TOYOTA! I am proud to own one. No engine work needed until after 300 K.
