Faults:
Will be needing new C/V joints soon, but still is very drivable and secure.
Only weak point is the tire cover in the trunk is press-board that breaks easily, and should be replaced with some plywood, if you plan on putting any weight on it. I replaced mine, after a bag of groceries cracked it, and broke the eggs!
Tune-ups and oil changes have been the most performed on this champ!
General Comments:
The interior lighting is not the best on the DX model (no luxury lighting group).
When on a bumpy highway or poorly paved road, the cabin is a bit noisy.
I would recommend manual windows. My manual windows still work like new, but my previous 1986 Corolla had power windows, and had some mechanical problems.
This is the second Corolla that I have owned. As long as you attain the car fairly new, or know that it was maintained well, you should have it for many, many years like myself. I will be buying another Corolla in the next year. I could never ask for a more reliable car.
This car's overall cost is probably the lowest I could ever ask for. Insurance (Safe-Car), Gas Mileage, and Maintenance.
If you want a car that will always get you from point "A to B", a Corolla is the best choice (the newer the better, of course).
