1990 Toyota Cressida MX-83

Summary:

A car to own for a lifetime!!!

Faults:

With respect for the Cressida, absolutely nothing has gone wrong. I have maintained the car properly for the past 16 years.

The A/C has recently stopped working... not a major issue for me at all.

General Comments:

The Cressida has been in the family since new, we will never get rid of it.

The 1990 Cressida is one of the most beautiful cars ever produced. I think it was too advanced for it's time and was too expensive for mainstream America. I still get excited every time I take the car out and drive around. Some people have asked me what kind of Toyota it is since most people may not know about the history of the Cressida.

The Cressida design still looks new, even today, and doesn't seem outdated at all.

The Cressida is a car that will last you a lifetime...

1990 Toyota Cressida

Summary:

My be the last car I will ever buy!!!

Faults:

Nothing major:

Cracked windshield from age...

CD Changer stopped working.

Car Phone was removed.

Nothing major that even I couldn't fix in 20 minutes... VERY IMPRESSIVE!!

General Comments:

I had purchased this Cressida brand new in March 1990, and have owned it ever since.

Words cannot describe how beautiful and elegant this car still is. It seems like it has never aged, even one day. The car still looks, smells, sounds, and drives like it was brand new, right off the showroom floor.

This is the most impressive luxury vehicle I have ever owned or driven. VERY LUXURIOUS!!! FULLY LOADED!!!

Every luxury option is standard.

The engine is the same as the one used in the Toyota Supra, and has loads of power for acceleration and high speed cruising. You cannot even hear the engine running it is so smooth and quiet.

The engine is very powerful and quiet, even at highway speeds.

The interior has only minor wear, but every single button still works.

The dash is still in perfect condition, not one broken part.

The ride is also very quiet and smooth. It almost feels like you are floating at highway speeds, you will lose track of your speed because you don't realize how fast you are actually going!!

The exterior still shines and is flawless, it doesn't look 15 years old at all.

I currently have 198,000 miles on my Cressida and it doesn't even seem like it. I still get compliments about the car because people can't believe how nice it still looks and runs. They are very surprised to learn that it has almost 200k miles on it.

My Cressida has even convinced some relatives of mine to buy Toyota's. They remember when I first purchased the car in 1990...and I am still using it as a (very luxurious) daily driver. While they have gone through many other cars in past years, I have always had my Cressida!! Many people have taken notice of this fact!!

Cressida's still have VERY high resale value also, especially the 1989-1992 models, the last of the MX83 series.

This Cressida is an excellent value for the money today, if you can find one!!

This may very well be the last car that I will ever purchase!! There is no reason for me to sell it, and I wouldn't sell it for any amount of money.

I would say that a vintage Cressida is still more reliable then most newer cars out today!!

I think that can sum it up for you...

AMEN! I got a 1990 and my wife has a 1991 Toyota Cressida! Both cars have been terrific! November 2007, I got rear-ended by an inattentive speeding driver while talking on his cell phone in a brand-new company van! The impact was so hard--it messed up my back and totalled the car. Assessing the damage, had I not been in a "tank"--I would have been hurt even more seriously! I did months of therapy and have since recovered. I decided to keep my Cressida and my friend who owns a body/paint shop got her all fixed up real nice! She still runs like new!
