2011 Toyota Matrix Base 1.8
Summary:
Reliable mini station wagon
Faults:
Lost 2 wheel covers. There seems to be a problem with their wheel covers. Otherwise, the car has had no other problem in our 9 years of ownership.
General Comments:
Once again Toyota is the leader in reliability. I've owned this car for over 9 years with very little trouble. Yes, the car failed to start a few times because of a fuel and battery problem. The OEM battery is kind of weak and that may have been due to my short commutes. It is also rather sensitive to fuel quality; older fuel may have caused a few starting problems.
It is sad that Toyota no longer offer the Matrix in North America. This is a great utility car with amazing storage capacity. My only complaints are (1) Fuel economy isn't great. It may have something to do with the older tech in the engine, transmission and the aerodynamics of the car. (2) No cargo cover, it is not good in an urban area.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes
