1994 Toyota Pickup Extended Cab 2.4L 4 Cylinder
Summary:
Long Lasting Dependable 4x4 Truck!!!
Faults:
All I can really say is that when I got the truck, the front drivers side seat was ripped on the side where all these seats rip.
But other than that this truck was in outstanding shape.
General Comments:
Toyota is one of the most dependable names when it comes to 4x4 trucks!!! This '94 truck is definitely a keeper! I love the 4x4 ability, it definitely comes in handy up here in New England. The extended cab is very useful also. People can fit in the back, but most commonly, just other stuff you carry in your vehicle.
My dealer fixed this truck up with a brand new paint job (black) ---so this truck just shines when you drive it. I already have many additions planned for this truck: Bigger tires, new instrument panels, and maybe a new engine header to guarantee a longer engine life. I must say, this 2.4 Liter can really move. This is a big engine, and it can really tow and haul a lot of weight. The towing package on the truck is also very usefull, Uhaul can thank me for renting their trailers more than once!
Overall, this is a great truck, and if anyone is considering getting even an older model Toyota Truck, don't even hesitate. Toyota is notorious for their Quality. Toyota vehicles last for a long, long time when the owner takes a little time to keep up the preventive maintenance.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Don't Know

I'm afraid you're not the only person in the world. I too own one of these nightmares. I don't know where to begin, but first off I must mention I bought my 94 xtra cab 4x4 4 cyl because I had such great luck with my 88 toy, 6 cyl. --- I bought my 1994 with only 80k on it, it was owned by an old man who had all the maintenance records. I now have 130k on it and it chugs anti freeze just as bad as it chugs gas.
I can't understand these people that claim this thing is good on gas, because it has always been awful with about 17 mpg.
The truck is one of the slowest vehicles I have ever been in, I can barely merge on the highway.
Since I have owned it I have rebuilt the rear end, because somehow the pinion nut got loose and ruined the bearings.
The harmonic balancer has broken, the valves tick and clank and stick, even though the oil is and has been religiously changed, and now the head is leaking somewhere and I simply can't stand to look at it to fix the thing. I'm so sick of working on this thing.
I thought this was gonna be the last truck I would have to buy, I couldn't have been more wrong... I would not recommend at least this 22RE Toyota to anyone!! --- Keith.
