Faults:

The van developed oil sludge at 60,000 miles despite conscientious oil changes. Engine had to be replaced.

Numerous problems with brakes and alignment requiring frequent work.

Wheel hubs and bearings replaced.

Sliding doors stick and jam repeatedly.

General Comments:

I bought the van based on Toyota's reputation for reliability. It has been the most expensive car, in terms of repair and maintenance, I have ever owned. Stay away from Siennas.

Faults:

Plastic "loop" handle on rear door broke off at 14 months. Dealer replaced at no cost.

Original tires replaced after 38,800 kilometers.

Front brake pads replaced and rotors turned at 95,700 kilometers.

Muffler replaced at 102,700 kilometers.

General Comments:

Dealer used for all servicing until warranty period was over.

I change the oil Spring and Fall and have had no problems with "gummy" oil.

Air conditioner is not as effective as the one in our previous van (Plymouth Voyager) at defrosting windows.

I have used regular octane gasoline only, adding periodic fuel injector cleaner, and am very satisfied with the power and acceleration of the vehicle. Fuel economy is as expected for mini-vans.

Faults:

Grinding noise in transmission. It was fixed per recall notice.

Improper tire inflation kept lit even with right tire pressure.

General Comments:

The dealership (Sterling McCall Toyota Fort Bend, TX) fixed the problem, but the next day I had to return the van because the rear brakes "suddenly" made a loud squealing noise. My concern is that in 1997, there was a head gasket recall on my Toyota P/U, but I was told that my fuel injectors were leaking so to avoid having more problems "showing up" I agreed for them to replace two injectors that were supposedly leaking. I ended up paying over $600.00. I sense a pattern of "unusual" repair jobs as a consequence of "recall repairs " being performed. Are there anyone out there that have experienced the same?

Faults:

New brakes at 110 000.

That's about it, there's nothing major that has gone wrong yet. Then again, I haven't owned this car for a very long time either.

General Comments:

This is a great vehicle. It has great power for a quick getaway, but is also very quiet at cruising speeds. I love this minivan.

Faults:

After 118,000 miles very little has gone wrong. All but the rattle started after 100,000 miles.

Drivers electric window failing.

Drive belt gasket oil leak. I had them replace the seals for $80 when doing the belts.

Funny transmission noise, but it has never failed to work. We were worried about it early on, but the dealer never found anything; not surprising during warranty.

Power steering pump leak. This has virtually stopped by itself.

Noise from air conditioner.

We're just starting to get the first little rust spots in this Florida vehicle.

We now get an odor from the engine compartment when using the cruise control.

There has been a rattle in the passenger side sliding door that's not too bothersome for the last 70,000 miles.

General Comments:

The interior shows no signs of wear except for where my son just recently dropped the lighter he shouldn't have been fooling around with in the first place.

The shocks perform as good as new, which I'm very surprised.

We finally replaced the timing belt and the other belts for the first time after 115,000 miles.

Most of the mile have been around town in short trips. We have been to Idaho and Connecticut (twice) from Florida.

I would buy another, but my wife wants a Highlander. We will need less room now that our oldest son is leaving for the Navy.
