Faults:

Driver's side power door top rail is a little broken.

Engine mounting bolts sheared off.

Had to replace wiring harness.

Battery and alternator alternate needing replaced.

Sediment in the gas tank.

Slight cosmetic and surface rust and other cosmetic damage.

Housing of driver's side tail light is broken.

VHS tape player's screen doesn't work when hot.

Speakers in the driver and passenger side doors rattle a lot.

The driver's side carpet is worn where my heel rests.

only like half the interior lights still work.

Power steering has started becoming intermittent.

Trouble starting when cold.

Driver's side power door handle is cracked.

Small cracks in the windshield.

AC no longer works.

General Comments:

Engine still sounds great when running.

The interior is the most comfortable of any car I've sat in.

Leather seats are still in good shape.

For a car that is so old and has so many miles, it still starts good, runs good, and feels good to drive.

Much of the exterior cosmetic damage and the windshield cracks were caused by ping pong ball sized hail.

I like the exterior and interior colors. I think all the different colors, textures, and materials match well and are well put together.

I've kept up on maintenance.

I'm going to keep this car as long as possible, and plan to use it as a daily driver and a road trip vehicle.

Faults:

Check Engine Light (CEL) illuminated once at about 150k miles; code readout was the one suggesting catalytic converter or downstream sensor as the root cause; CEL went out on its own after a month, not to return.

General Comments:

We love it. It's reliable and steady to a fault.

It comfortably hauls our family of 6: two adults, two small kids, and two large dogs.

Sufficient engine power for our needs (i.e. it doesn't tow anything), but does carry lots of stuff inside and on the roof rack.

Soft suspension.

Faults:

The oxygen sensors and catalytic converter were replaced at 80,000 miles. They were NOT replaced again between 80,000 miles and 403,000 miles.

The water pump was replaced at 300,000 as a preventative measure, as it was still in good working condition.

Various seals and gaskets began leaking oil at around 100,000 miles. Replacing seals and gaskets did not stop all of the leaks. Between 200,000 miles and 403,000 miles, began adding quart of oil every 2,000 miles, and we no longer replace the leaking gaskets and seals.

General Comments:

The Sienna was designed for hauling eight people plus a lot of cargo, or five people and a LOT of cargo. It does that job very well. It is a smooth highway cruiser, and makes long weekend trips a pleasure.

Its large size makes it harder to park. Many indoor parking lots are designed for smaller vehicles, so it is sometimes necessary to hunt for a large parking space.

The view to the rear is poor, so we always walked behind the Sienna before backing out of the driveway to make sure no kids were nearby. The newer Sienna's have an option for a rear view camera, which would solve that problem.

The first two rows of seats are comfortable for long trips. The third row is really designed more for kids than adults, and adults would not like riding in the third row for more than an hour or so.

The gas mileage has been good for such a large vehicle. We averaged around 21 mpg for the first hundred thousand miles, and between 100,000 miles and 403,000 miles averaged closer to 22 mpg. About 90% of the miles are highway miles, cruising at around 70 miles per hour.

It will soon become a "backup" vehicle, but we hope to keep it to at least 500,000 miles.
