This is the worst and most expensive Toyota I have ever owned.

The first Sienna I owned was a 98, and the gas tank went bad along with the check engine light, so I sold it. This 2009 that I bought is worse than the 98 Sienna.

Stay away from the Toyota Sienna. Buy an Odyssey.

General Comments:

This is our second Sienna. We traded in our 2004 Sienna for the 2009 model.

We chose the 8 passenger model this time because we have 6 kids, and need the added passenger seating. The interior by all means is fresh and laid out the way we like it. It is still as comfortable as the 2004 that we had, but a bit better.

The 2 biggest changes from the 2004 to the 2009 are: the newer front end styling, and it is way, way more powerful. We can tell the difference power wise on the highway. The 2009 is faster, and quieter than the 2004 that we owned.

We really love this one a lot. A lot of our friends and family members have also purchased one of these, and all agree that they love theirs as well. We definitely plan on keeping this one.

We absolutely recommend this vehicle a whole lot It is roomy, versatile, quick, very reliable, and family friendly. So if you have been seeking one of these, you owe it to yourself to go to your nearest Toyota dealer and test drive one.

If you are a first time mother looking for a safe and reliable family van, or if you are looking for a great family van, look no further. These also make great vehicles for parents with kids on various sports teams, and are perfect family friendly minivans for the family vacations.

Faults:

Oxygen sensor replaced at 15,000 miles (covered by warranty).

Plastic strip that runs the length of the roof of the vehicle separated near the front and flipped up. Glued back down by the dealer for free.

General Comments:

The van is great to travel in with kids. There are cupholders everywhere. We got the version that seats 8 and we love the middle row of seats.

The seats are supportive and comfortable. It's nothing fancy, but it's by far the most comfortable vehicle we've owned for longer trips. The console in between the front seats is very convenient, as is the ability to plug an iPod in directly to the stereo.

Our only disappointment is in the towing capacity. Toyota cheapened the Sienna in 2008 and future models by removing the standard "tow package." As a result, the 2007 models are rated at 3500 lbs for towing capacity, but the 08's and 09's are rated only at 1200 lbs. We were very disappointed as we only noticed this AFTER we bought a small pop-up camper.

Due to this factor, I would purchase a Honda instead if I had it to do over again.

Faults:

The 6-disc in-dash CD changer/radio operates erratically (fails to turn on, fails to turn off, won’t accept a CD, spits out all 6 CDs, display won’t come on, display won’t light, volume knob won’t adjust volume). Was told by my local Toyota dealership on two separate occasions that they could not find anything wrong with it. Returned another time to show them the video footage I took of the radio one day when it was acting very erratically and was told “that doesn’t prove anything”. Was also told that there was almost NO warranty for items like this. Responded by telling them that that would certainly be the case when they make statements like “that doesn’t prove anything” when slapped in the face with clear proof of the failure. Their response: “If we can’t find a problem with something while it’s in our possession, then it’s not officially a problem”. I guess customer-provided evidence doesn’t constitute proof.

This is my second Sienna with this exact same radio problem.

General Comments:

I otherwise have liked the car. However, I feel like I'm starting to be treated by the Toyota service people like GM used to treat their service customers. That is one thing that lead to GM's loss of prestige. You can't treat people like complete idiots and expect them to continue buying your product.
