2003 Toyota Tacoma V6

Summary:

The best vehicle I've ever owned!!

Faults:

There is a small triangle panel on the drivers side door that comes lose sometimes. I just push it back in good as new with my hand.

General Comments:

This truck has a sensitive gas pedal, I personally never noticed it, but I had several friends tell me that it did. I love the truck and the sensitivity of the gas pedal. It takes off quick and is a fun vehicle to drive.

I have two children that fit comfortably with their car seats in the back (four door model).

The bed of the truck is shallow and small.

A new buyer should purchase a bug deflector right away to keep rocks from chipping the paint on the hood.

2003 Toyota Tacoma SR5 V6

Summary:

Unacceptable level of annoying rattles, we're very disappointed in our 4th and last Toyota

Faults:

The dashboard rattles in several places.

The seatbelt connection or the arm that holds the female end of the connection clicks with every bump or curve in the road. We have had both parts (the seatbelt and the separate connection part) replaced and this has not remedied the problem.

General Comments:

Uncomfortable on long trips.

Poor gas mileage. 20 mpg at best.

Nice power in the V6 model.

The Tacoma has such poorly designed suspension that rattles everywhere are unavoidable. They literally just shake themselves (AND their occupants) to pieces. Sorry you did not get wise and buy an American built truck sooner. They are far more comfortable, more reliable and a far better value in the long run. People are finally waking up to the realization that all the ad hype is just that: HYPE.

2003 Toyota Tacoma Double Cab 3.4 V6

Summary:

High marks with future design considerations

Faults:

What a vehicle, I couldn't be happier. I'm not easy with my vehicles, but this one can handle me the best. It drives like a car, feels like a truck, does what I ask of it. Also agree with other comments from Tacoma owners-regarding comfort- I'm 6'4" approx 220lbs, and the front seats need more support, a higher and firmer back, and possible elevated seat from floor position- which means possibly heightening the ceiling. Fuel economy could be better- waiting for the hybrid model- will a diesel be an offered choice someday? brake pads in the front need to be stiffer-wear+ stopping distance- Toyota, I am otherwise very pleased!

2003 Toyota Tacoma SR5

Faults:

2003 Tacoma PreRunner quad cab. After repeatedly finding water at the right rear floor board I conducted some self-diagnosis. This had not happened during the first 1.5 years of ownership. It turns out that because I now park on a grade, heavy rain flows along the lower window seal aft and down into the door. The water exits the bottom of the door at the aft weep. However, the flow is strong enough to overcome the door seal adjacent to the weep and enters the vehicle. I have no explanation why it only occurs on the right side, but using a hose to apply water to the window seal while I am inside with a flashlight, clearly pointed out the culprit. I haven't yet come up with a solution.

2003 Toyota Tacoma SR5

Summary:

The best little pickup to ever exist!

Faults:

Nothing has gone wrong.

General Comments:

This is my second Tacoma.

My previous Tacoma, a 1998 2wd pickup, acquired 105,000 miles in the 5 years I owned it. Outside of normal maintenance needs the only repairs needed were a new battery and new front brake pads.

I love my Tacoma. I think it is the best pickup you can own at an excellent price.

2003 Toyota Tacoma xtra cab

Summary:

Wonderful for 2!

Faults:

I found that when at a stop light the truck sometimes swerves upon acceleration and the tires squeal.

I do not take off fast this is a regular acceleration.

The brake system hesitates a tad bit.

General Comments:

This truck I would recommend if you do not have any kids. My husband and I had this truck for 9 months and then got tired of it because the cost of gas and that the 'extra cab' wasn't worth it. Any time we took more than two people it was very uncomfortable and cramped. We recently traded it for a 2003 Toyota Camry, we still have our 2001 Dodge Neon which is a horrid nightmare.

If you think the xtra cab is cramped, try a regular cab! I just upgraded from a regular to an xtra, it's a big difference in the space department, but they command about $3000 more for 18" of space, that's a lot...
