Faults:

Tire sensors went back at around 50,000 miles. Cost roughly $500 to replace all 4 of them.

Air injection pumps went out last month at 67,000 miles. Toyota agreed to pay half of the cost, so it was around $1,100 out of pocket. Great of Toyota to agree to do that.

Generally speaking, the only big issue with these models is the air injection pump system, which is part of the emissions control system. The 2007-2011's (I believe) have a recall and they extended the warranty beyond the original factory warranty. If these go bad, it's an expensive fix.

General Comments:

Powertrain is unstoppable. Fit and finish is great - after almost 7 years of operation, the interior is still as new without discoloration or broken plastic parts. Aftermarket support is great. Toyota quality is top notch.

Tundra is one of the last conventional American trucks. It doesn't have cylinders that shut off on the highway, or an engine that turns off at stoplights. Great trucks.

Faults:

Emergency brake is very weak, and two dealers said nothing could be done about it.

General Comments:

I bought this truck primarily to tow my boat. I frequently fish alone and must launch the boat myself. I rely on the emergency brake as well as the park on the transmission. The emergency brake on the Tundra is useless; it may or may not hold on a boat ramp. Two different dealers told me the emergency brake was very small and had to be "mashed to the floor" to get it to hold.
