2000 Volkswagen Beetle GLS
Summary:
All in all, I got my money's worth
Faults:
My shock absorbers gave way at 20,000 miles.
Also, while at 20,000 miles, I changed my brake rotors and brake pads.
There was this day when I lost its repair manual. I felt stupid due to its loss. It may be a small thing compared to the parts mentioned above, but it is as important as those.
General Comments:
The car is small but comfortable. It makes me look young and cool.
Its speed is at a satisfactory level.
The best part is that its car parts are easy to find. I could buy those on the Internet.
After losing the repair manual, I bought one online instead of going to the dealer. Here is the site where I bought the repair manual: http://www.vdubpartsdirect.com/vw_repairmanuals.html
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

I fully agree. I will never buy a VW ever again. The quality is so poor that you will not think your car is cute at all.
I had problems with the windows (they would roll down but then not roll up).
The check engine light is forever coming on, and sometimes the dealer can't even figure out why.
Knobs and things falling off all the time.
The trunk is so heavy that you have to be right there when you unlatch it to get it open (meaning you can't use the trunk latch inside the car).
The car is a bunch of junk. Do yourself a favor and do NOT consider VW. I do not know of a single VW owner who is happy with his/her car.
