Faults:

I purchased my car in November 2007, and after one month it would not go into 4th gear, and the panel where your speedometer and odometer are went out as well as the radio.

I took it to a Volkswagen dealer, because they are the only ones who can diagnose it correctly, and they couldn't find the problem. They replaced the electrical wiring as well as the computer in the transmission, and still could not fix it.

We then took it to a transmission specialist who rebuilt it. After 2 months in the Volkswagen shop I could drive it again. 1 month after I had it back, the speedometer went out and I took it back to Volkswagen. They said it was the vehicle speed gear and replaced it.

Now the speedometer works, but my car won't go into 4th again, and they are telling me since they didn't test drive it before they replaced the gear, that they can't prove it was working fine because tearing out the transmission. IRATE!

Faults:

Well knock on wood, I haven't had anything go wrong with my car at all, except when I wash my car I have noticed there is a little bit of water on my driver's side seat, right by the head rest, after I get done. Don't really know what's causing that.

And my emissions control light came on, resulting in my check engine light coming on. Took it to the dealer, and they had a recall on it and checked it, and it took the check engine light and emissions control light off for awhile. Then I hit a pot hole and it came back on again, so I'm clueless. If anyone knows what the problem is, please let me know ice_blinga@yahoo.com thanks.

General Comments:

I love my car :-) It's sporty and you can swoop in and outta traffic LOL.

Faults:

My Check Engine light is on all the time.

My trunk won't shut.

My center armrest doesn't shut.

My Emergency Brake doesn't catch.

My first gear thunks into gear.

The seats attract every spec of dust in America.

General Comments:

I think that my little Jetta is really cute, and it gets me where I need to go. There are a few things that really annoy me about it, but overall it's a good little car. It's very roomy on the inside. The only thing that I really really don't like about it, is that it is slow as anything, but the mileage I get on one tank of fuel is well worth dealing with the lack of speed.

Faults:

Oxygen sensors failed.

Temperature sensor failed.

Transmission grinds going into 2nd gear.

Engine light always on - dealer can't diagnose.

Car stalls at low speed on turns - dealer can't diagnose.

Plastic cowling fell off (below car).

Glove box hinge broke.

Leaking hose on power steering.

Plastic interior pieces break easily.

General Comments:

Expensive parts.

Dealer cannot repair mystery electrical problems - if it is out of the diagnostic box, they are lost.

Handles alright and looks good.

Constant recalls - Volkswagen has lost its quality reputation.
