2000 Volkswagen Jetta GLS 1.8 turbo
Summary:
I am woefully disappointed in the quality of the vehicle.
Faults:
The driver window mechanism has broken at least three times.
The passenger window mechanism has broken at least three times.
Retention springs have fallen off of both the driver and passenger seats.
Both glove box hinges cracked in two.
The console latch broke.
The hub caps and the front bumper vents routinely come off.
The dome light switch fell out.
The finish on all of the plastic in the car is peeling off.
The hose on the turbo fell off.
The rear brake calipers needed machining after 45, 000 miles.
General Comments:
The torque and handling are excellent.
The engine has been reliable.
What is even more reliable is the tendency for any plastic component in the car to break, and then break again.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? No

If the oil light "dings", and you are only putting in a quart of oil, you're not putting in enough oil. Has anyone ever showed you how to check the oil? You shouldn't wait for the "ding". The "ding" is bad, really baaaadd!
