2000 Volkswagen Jetta V6
Summary:
I wouldn't wish this car on my worst enemy!
Faults:
When I first bought the car, the engine mount snapped crushing everything underneath. Then the driver's side window broke and fell down into the car. The cup holder is stuck and won't pull out. The glovebox hinge broke so it just hangs there. The center armrest hinge broke. The clutch just went out at 50,000. The transitioner disintegrated and ruined the fan belt and pulley.
General Comments:
This car is seriously the biggest lemon to ever have been manufactured. I would not recommend a Volkswagen Jetta to my worst enemy. I am very easy on my cars and I can't imagine what MORE would happen if I actually put a lot of wear and tear on it. I think I have spent more money repairing this car than on what the car actually cost. I want to warn everyone to NEVER buy a Jetta!
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? No

My sympathy -- we leased a 2000 Jetta and it was an awful nuisance.
The Engine Warning light stayed on constantly and the air bag sensor light came on later for good. We asked the dealership in Bedford, MA to order the parts that were under warranty at the time. They never contacted us again in this regard.
The electric system is awful. We also had a chip go after having the car just a month or so.
When we turned the VW in with the correct mileage and in very good body shape. We heard from the corporation later that they were charging us for the two bulbs -- mind you, $500 each - for a total of $1,000.
We have been trying to find out the cost of these bulbs because the bill did not contain any detail relative to the bulbs, etc. It is terribly frustrating to deal with Volkswagen Corporation - they seem not to care at all.
We still have not paid the bill -- we are disputing it and they have placed the bill with a collection agency.
We now own a truck and a car by Ford and we're just delighted. No more German products for us. They started out with a good product, but in my estimation and reading these board from other people it seems they have really deteriorated.
