I guess I should consider myself lucky. From what I've read Jetta transmissions go around 80,000. For me it was around 105,000. The car is an automatic and will get up to around 25 mph (2nd gear) rev and then jerk into gear. It's so frustrating. Per the VW manual, transmission fluid shouldn't ever need to be changed. I had it done anyway at the dealer. Hasn't changed a thing.
Every other month something else goes wrong with this thing. The latest problem is the driver side door. The sensor is bad. So even though the door is closed, the car thinks it is not. So your driving...let's say 70+mph. It will just start dinging and the interior lights will come on. What a pain!
I lied, actually the newest problem would have to be the turn signal. It's not in use and you're driving along and you hear the ticking noise as if it is on. This car is possessed!
And yes my windows have also fallen in the door. What a delight on a rainy cold day. Thanks Volkswagen for making me a believer in Japanese cars. Off to Toyota...
P.S. Does anyone know where the melted crayon smell comes from? Friends are starting to refuse rides.

I look forward tyo reading a detailed, well-thought out, comprehensive review on your Jetta.
I understand your need to vent, but this review was just "Awful".
