2004 Volvo V70 R 2.5
Summary:
An extremely well-maintained, one-owner, superb condition P2 V70R -- excellent
Faults:
Nothing yet -- but I've had it for only about two weeks so far.
General Comments:
This car is from Northern Alberta, and has been maintained at Volvo of Edmonton, and then at a smaller private dealership after the warranty expired. It has had one fastidious female owner, whose son is co-owner of the smaller private dealership. It has extremely comfortable heated Atacama leather with virtually no wear, 6-speed manual transmission, factory sub, no child seats, never been smoked in, no pets, almost 160K KM (100K miles). Cosmetically it is perfect.
The vehicle has been superbly maintained and is in excellent, first-class condition. Before purchase, the independent mechanical inspection (no connection whatsoever to the dealership) came back 100% in all categories. The vehicle came with new brakes and eight (8) factory "R" pegs in great condition, 4 Summer Falkens (90% left) and 4 Winter studded Nokians with only 3000KM (currently installed).
The engine and transmission perform flawlessly (so far). It is very easy to drive. Mechanically there is no vibration, strange noise, lurching, grinding, slipping, whining, looseness, weird smells or smoke, hesitation, or anything at all that I have yet noticed. The vehicle is quiet, tight, a great deal of fun to drive, comfortable, very fast, and exceptionally safe. It feels new in every respect. Electronically, everything seems 100%, especially all controls (e.g., DSTC, tuneable suspension, etc.).
Although in very early stages of ownership, I am very impressed and in fact am much happier that I thought possible. Even the stereo is outstanding -- best I've ever heard in any car, ever.
So, I am hopeful -- we'll see how things work out!
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

The scheduled 168K KM maintenance is coming up in the next couple of months -- probably in the Summer. Fortunately, I have access to a very good Volvo specialist indie shop where I've dealt for years for the care and feeding of our S70 T5 SE. So, they already have a heads-up for the upcoming service on this V70R. They provide a 1-year warranty with their work.
Updates: I brought the 'R' in for a checkup re: a weird, random rattling noise audible from the front passenger-side footwell at speeds over 120KPH. Advice from fellow 'R' owners on the V70R Forum discussion list suggested a loose shield of some sort might be the cause. Turned out that the heat shield was left loose after the "squirrel catcher" was removed (at my request) before delivery. I was not aware that it had been left in a loose condition. So that's been tightened up and taken care of.
Everything else has been re-checked and then checked again. Findings? Very slight (hardly noticeable) weeping from the angle gear housing, and extremely slight "play" in the front right swaybar link. There are no other angle gear symptoms (e.g., no vibration, etc.), and nothing else whatsoever suspension-wise. So, monitoring for potential angle gear replacement, perhaps next Summer, is now underway. I may also buy an IPD front swaybar, plus links, at some point in the future -- but what has been observed so far is totally non-problematic. No action required.
Everything else is tight and in extremely good shape.
The 'R' runs perfectly and is a joy to drive in any condition. My wife and I are very happy with this comfortable, extremely quick, and wonderfully luxurious Volvo. With the almost-new studded Nokian Hakkapeliittas, the car is superb in snow, ice, and all other nasty Winter conditions. I am looking forward to warmer weather as well, when I can switch over to the Summer rims and tires!
Cheers / Blueleezard.

Hope the original owner did the timing belt job required at 160KM. I would probable take that particular service to the dealer, as it's not easy.
