2004 Volvo XC90 T6
Summary:
Volvo has lost me as a customer on this transmission problem
Faults:
Steering Rack - Replaced under warranty.
Transmission - out of warranty @ 91,000 km.
General Comments:
Transmission just blew for no reason. We drive the car properly and never abuse it. Transmission just fell apart and is now at the dealer with a $7,000 estimate. They're either going to have to fix it under a good will gesture as we are just over the 80,000 km warranty level, but under 4 years, or we're taking it to a transmission specialist that we know and will get it rebuilt and trade it in for something better built.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? No

As I stated in a previous comment on a newer Volvo, I am not remotely impressed with Volvo's quality. After driving Lincolns since 1984 my elderly mom switched to Volvo in 2006. The car rides rougher, performs worse and has a lower build quality than our 7 year old GM car, and is way below the quality of our 2007 Ford. Unlike Jaguar, which seemed to become a far BETTER vehicle after being taken over by Ford, Volvo seems to have made a 180 degree turn in the opposite direction.
