1995 Daewoo Cielo GLE 1.5

Summary:

A reliable car for little money

Faults:

I have changed the dampers at 35000 km, but because of a 'smart' mechanic, and the heads of the crossbar plus the pivots because of the bad roads and two fittings at the engine.

General Comments:

Anyway, it's a trustworthy car, but not so comfortable. It is worth the money I paid for it (9000 US).

1998 Daewoo Cielo GLE 1.4 SOHC

Summary:

Nice car for $8000 (in 1998, in Romania). Today it's obsolete

Faults:

Very nice car for Romania in 1998.

Today Renault is a better choice because you can get antiblocking system and airbag for the same money.

Top speed: 170kmph

Fuel consumption 6l/100km, very good.

The seats are comfortable (Opel stuff).

Very bad audio (DAEWOO electronics).

I have been driving a Daewoo Cielo for the past few months and it's been one of the best cars that I have driven. It's comfort level if great and at any given speed you feel at utmost comfort. With the power to touch 170 Km/Hr it really packs a punch!!

I bought a 1998 Daewoo Cielo last year, and am very happy with everything about it. It's not a BMW, but for the price difference, I would say it's better. It's comfortable, easy to drive, and has given no problems yet.

The only negative aspect is the resale value is never going to be near what I think it's worth, so if you want a car to keep and use, it is perfect, but it's not for resale.

1995 Daewoo Cielo GLE 1.5 SOHC

Summary:

Very good car - of course for its price

Faults:

Air-conditioning radiator fluid leak at 50.500km; had to change the radiator at a cost of ~200$. Alternator failure at 56.000km - replaced for another 200$. No other problems.

General Comments:

Very reliable. I made a 8.000km tour of Europe with absolutely no complaints, and an average fuel consumption of 6.2 liter/100km. In a busy city it goes up to 10-11 liter/10km.

I am in the process of acquiring a Cielo myself. Being my first car I think there is no better car on the Australian market that represents value for money!
