1994 Jaguar XJ6 3.2 I6

Summary:

Retro cool, wears its defects with pride

Faults:

Boot lock spring broke - £28 on eBay for a whole replacement lock, 15 minutes to fit.

Seat belt buckle broke - spring had popped out, repaired myself.

Rear shocks and bushings - bought on eBay, repaired myself.

Brakes - front and rear discs and pads, replaced myself.

Passenger door card kept getting stuck in door opening, eventually an aggressive pull of the door pulled whole door card off. Just bought clips off eBay, will replace them myself.

Leaking fuel rail, replaced myself with £30 one off eBay.

Two injector seals perished, they are exactly same o-rings as BMW which I had, replaced myself.

Fuel gauge reads inaccurately - twice run out of fuel - always keep it brimmed up!

4 new tyres to replace Chinese winter tyres it had on it (with bulges and all sorts of defects).

General Comments:

Paid £350 for this car; almost a bit of a joke purchase. Loved it from first moment I drove it.

Amazing road presence. It's scruffy and has major lacquer peel on bonnet, roof and boot along with various rust bubbles on roof, but that's part of its "look".

Quite cramped in front despite the size of the thing.

It's cool/retro and I love driving it, coolest car I've had (and by a long shot the cheapest). Bulletproof engine.

Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? No
