2000 Seat Leon TDI 110 Signa 1.9 turbo diesel

Summary:

Satisfied

Faults:

Temperature sensor attached to the engine block. Failed at about 55.000 Km. Fixed under warranty.

Central door locking. Failed at about 100.000 Km. The rear-right lock bounces up when I push the lock button. The problem does not occur when I use the remote control. The dealer was not able to find the problem until the date.

Poor interior finishing.

General Comments:

In general I'm satisfied with the car.

Excellent performance.

Excellent fuel consumption.

Excellent liability.

The only drawback is the poor quality of some of the interior materials.

2003 Seat Leon TDI 110HP 1.9 TDI

Summary:

Brilliant car, but must be polished in some components

Faults:

I've had several issues with the car:

- I changed the Turbo because it crashed after 15000 kilometers (8.000 miles?). With Turbo Diesel Injected cars is usual to change the air mass meter, but not the turbo.

The suspension arm was broken (no hits given by my side)

The motor part responsible for charging the battery when running (we call it here something like "alternator") had to be changed.

I usually have backache and the seats don't help. There is no lumbar regulator.

General Comments:

Apart from all the problems I have had with the car, its behavior is brilliant. The official Horsepower is 110 although it has 127HP. On fast tracks works fine and it seems to be not as much noisy as others.

Sorry about mistakes ;)

2004 Seat Leon 1.8 VT 1.8 turbo

Summary:

Great turbo (when it works)

Faults:

The back seats rattle from the moment I bought the car. I have fixed that myself, stuffing some foam in the gap behind them.

There is another rattle from the steering wheel. It seems to come from the articulated plastic part which covers the adjustable column.

At about 2000 Km, the car started to loose acceleration. It is most noticeable when I'm on third gear. It goes fine up to more or less 3000 rpm, but at that point it drastically loses acceleration. It sometimes regains acceleration at higher revolutions. I can hear a hissing noise when the car looses acceleration. I think that there is a problem with the turbo. I'll take the car to the dealer this week, I hope that they can tackle this problem properly. If anyone knows of this problem, please post a comment.

General Comments:

Good handling.

Four wheel drive is good traction-wise. The problem is that suspensions are so stiff that it would be insane to go offroad.

The leather seats are great, and now they come with electric control.

It is fast if you take it to the red zone, but the engine does not give low-rev response. If you want excellent full range power, go for a normally aspirated variable timing VANOS BMW engine.

I currently own a '53 reg cupra 20 vt. My vehicle has done roughly 15.000 miles and my husband has noticed it is loosing power when accelerating. We have also had the car back 3 times for the back seat rattle. It has never been cured! from owning a ford Escort before a can honestly say it is the best thrill on four wheels I have ever owned.

I have a Seat Leon 20VT Cupra, it's a great car for what you pay, but, yes, I agree with what has been said so far.

A great forum for Seat Cupra's is at www.seatcupra.net. It's a good site to air views and share experiences, and to talk to other Seat owners.

2003 Seat Leon TDI SPORT FR 1.9 tdi

Summary:

The best daily car

Faults:

Not a single thing.

General Comments:

The car is really fast and handles great. It's specially good on fast tracks.

The quality of the materials is superb and the cunsumpition low. The only problem is that for a sports car it's too heavy, but much better than any compact car.

Please remember this is not a sports car. It is a family hatch with a sporting attitude. But yes, what a great car.
