1991 Volvo 440 GL 1.7 atmosferic 90HP

Summary:

Good old school

Faults:

The carburetor had to be changed at 190000 km, but mainly because it was cheaper to replace than to repair the old (got the piece from a 2ยบ hand store).

The distributor failed and I runned 2 months with only 3 cylinders, before y took the car to the mechanic. Curiously, above 2000 rpm, the engine showed no failure, but at slow motion was terrible.

The last year the front seats have started to degrade very quickly.

General Comments:

Not very fast (mine vibrates above 140 km/h), but can maintain a cruiser speed for hours without problem. Also good climber, can raise any mountain road found in Spain without any problems, even with a caravan attached.

Its wonderful to park this car, because of his reduced turning radius.

I like the controls, slightly turned to the driver seat. It makes easy to reach the controls, without having to separate much the hand of the steering wheel.

1992 Volvo 440 GLT 1.7 Injection

Summary:

Safe and reliable

Faults:

Oil leaking with 84000 km.

Anti-freeze leaking inside the car due to a failure in the heating radiator.

General Comments:

Generally I am very happy with this car, although it is a used car. It seems it can last forever.

Its acceleration is not very good.

It maintains good cruising speed in motorways.

Also gives the driver a very good safety sensation.

Try to avoid using it very much in the city, as fuel consumption gets up to 11L/100km.

1991 Volvo 440 GLS 1.7

Summary:

If I could I would buy it new again

Faults:

The car had never broke. It has always work perfectly.

General Comments:

It is a car to drive by high ways.

Driving in cities it gets hot very quickly, specially in summer.

The cabin filters a lot of noise from the engine and from wheels.
