2003 smart fortwo - city coupe Pulse 0.6
Summary:
Cheap and fun to drive!
Faults:
Nothing has broken so far, it has been working great!
General Comments:
The engine is really small, but it's a small car too, it has OK performance, works great in town and on the freeway with the six-geared tranny, really awesome fuel economy.
The suspension isn't really the best. That, combined with such short distance between the front and real wheels = bumpy ride on bumpy roads, but it's quite comfortable on good roads and on the freeway.
It can get a bit loud in the car on the freeway, you can hear the wind quite a bit, and the engine sounds a bit loud too, but it has OK speakers, so that's no problem really.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

I certainly appreciated your review- particularly the last paragraph. We are never as skilled as we think we are.
However, loss of grip does not automatically mean disaster.
There can be some (small!) margin left and obviously it all comes down to your experience and your kind of car.
Speaking of the latter, in your particular case obviously there was not much you can do, not with such a tiny wheelbase, weight distribution and center of gravity position. Which is why MB gave Smart a thorough makeover integrating every electronic stability device available at the time.
