General Comments:
Simple, well built, no-frills cheap transportation. Bought it from an old man for 500 € in 2006, the interior was like brand new, and it had complete service history with authorised VW service stamps in the book.
I love this car, as it takes me everywhere I want to go at anytime. The front wheel drive and proper heater + heated seats work magic in this cold climate.
It's basically a Golf MK2 with a HUGE trunk :)
The overall design is a bit gloomy, but that don't matter to me.
The drivetrain is bulletproof and VERY easy to maintain. Parts are dirt-cheap and available everywhere.
Never had a problem passing the annual tech. inspection.
Drives and handles quite well for being a 30 year old design. Gets around at 8-6L of unleaded per 100km.
90 HP don't sound like much there days, but the car has decent performance thanks to its low weight
When it comes to comfort, it's not a Cadillac. The seats are a bit small and unsupportive, it has no power steering (no need to go to the gym, all I have to do is to parallel park my Jetta), no A/C, no cruise control, no power mirrors, nor power windows.
This car will stay with me for a LONG time :)
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes
