1992 Alfa Romeo 75 Cloverleaf 3.0 petrol
Faults:
Propshaft rubber joint failed at approx. 100K - new shaft from Turin required. Gearbox whine at 122k - new bearings and partial rebuild needed.
General Comments:
Gearbox is only weak link - will sometimes refuse 1st and forget about syncro on second. Engine has given no trouble at all so far (128k). Sounds like a mini Ferrari and goes like one. Handling is excellent due to rear transaxle - ditto traction. Tyres make quite a difference - I recommend Yokohamas (A520). Throttle response gives it edge over Turbo brigade and steering is superb. Not cheap to run and not the most civilised 4 door saloon but I am having difficulty in thinking of what to replace it with.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

The Alfa Romeo 75 is an incredible bargain, but expect above average running costs as it likes its oil and fuel, but I feel the handling and that divine noise from the exhaust make up for it.
The only really bad thing I could say about it would be the gearbox which repeatedly caused problems - problems with 1st and 2nd gears, a real pain.
