2017 BMW 5 Series SE 2.0 turbo diesel

Summary:

Nice car, but an underlying BMW issue needs resolving across the brand

Faults:

EGR valve caused poor engine running and has caused coking of the top engine areas. This after 12 months. Previous BMW 520d had a new EGR valve after only 6 months from new. There is clearly a problem with EGR valves on BMW cars. Unfortunately it has taken three visits to the dealership to find the root cause - first visit identified a software issue; as this didn't improve, a second visit identified an EGR valve at fault - whilst this improved, it did not eradicate the issue so a third visit has found the top of the engine requires de-scaling - the car will be in next week for two days to sort.

General Comments:

It is a nice car and if above is resolved, it is nice to drive and very smooth. The car is well built and feels of good quality.

Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? No
