2002 Chrysler Neon R/T 2.0 petrol

Summary:

Stylish, Fast, Reliable and Value For Money

Faults:

Front wishbone (suspension) rubber bushes replaced at 35,000 miles.

General Comments:

Alternatively styled for the UK market, my Neon R/T has done the brand proud it is totally reliable.

The handling is very good, but the suspension is a little harder than the 'normal' Neon models. It corners frighteningly well!

All the gadgets (ABS/TRAC/AC, etc) work well and reliably. It is good value for money.

Leather seats are nice, the seats have 5 3-point seatbelts and the car seems strong enough to protect your family if it all goes badly wrong.

The steering isn't 'alive' like on some cars, but is very sure - the car feels firmly planted on the road and sticks like glue around the corners.

My R/T gives me 30 to 35mpg on a mixed run - I'm very happy with it and won't be selling it yet. (Why would I sell it, it is great value for money and gives me a comfortable car, will tow up to 1 tonne, take 5 people, has gadgets, goodies, leather, AC and goes well. To replace it with most other brands of car would cost a fortune!

I agree with comment reviews on the Neon R/T. It is great value for money car. When new this car would have cost £14,500. I paid half this for mine 5 yrs ago as a second owner. It had only 14,000 miles on the clock, and was in great condition. I have had very little go wrong, and have had the car serviced every 12 months. It still only has 37,000 miles on the clock, and still gives me good service, and still looks good!

As already mentioned, the standard of the build of the car is excellent. And all the fittings include ABS/A/C/ 6 Airbags, Leather seats, Radio/Tape/CD with 5 Disc Store Changer, Electric Windows, Electric Mirrors, Alloy Wheels, & more. If you can pick one up in good condition, I recommend you buy one.

What's the mileage per litre/gallon you are getting for this Neon model.

2002 Chrysler Neon 2.0 R/T 2.0 petrol

Summary:

A great value for money sporting saloon

Faults:

Only a couple of minor niggles. When I picked the car up I noticed poor qaulity paintwork on the rear bumper. This was put right by the garage with the minimum of fuss.

The right hand headlamp for some unknown reason had a tendency to collect water, which would then steam up the lens and create algae. This headlamp was replaced speedily by the dealer and the new one has been fine.

No other problems.

General Comments:

Aside from the minor niggles on collection I have had no problems whatsoever with this car. The Neon R/T has provided me with two years of hassle free motoring so far and has been 100% reliable. Dealer service has been exceptionally good.

The 2.0 litre engine in this car is reliable, and provides enough power to make this little saloon a lively performer. My only criticism of the engine is that it is a little coarse and noisy at high speed.

The R/T version of the Neon had stiffened suspension, larger wheels and low profile tires. It therefore handles incredibly well and is great fun to drive. However, the consequence of this is a totally bone-shaking rock hard ride.

Loads of fun though. I also like the figure hugging sports seats and generous boot. It is a very attractive and sporty car to look at too, not to mention great value.
