1990 Citroen AX GT 1.4
Summary:
Don't even go there!
Faults:
Every thing you can think of.
Gearbox fell out.
Electrical problems that lead to only starting when it felt like it (had to be bump started most of the time)
Back Suspension (this made the archers rub so nobody could sit in the back)
Oil leaked.
Radiator leaked.
Head gasket.
Seats broke.
Fuel gauge stopped working.
Side indicator stopped working.
Over heated all the time.
Exhorted fell off (when trying to sell the thing)
And the water washer had been replaced with a hot water bottle (as every AX GT now comes with)
General Comments:
Never ever buy one of these, if you do you will notice a hot water bottle where the washer is meant to be, as nearly every AX GT has one because the washer has fallen off. If you have an original washer then you better invest in a hot water bottle because you will need one.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? No

I have to agree with the person above!
I am now on my second AX GT. The first one gave good service for 2 years (it never broke down!!).
I'm now on my way to modding the second GT, which I bought for £50 and is now making a great project car... it's nearly ready for the open road!
It seems to me you were just unlucky, as there are plenty of lemons out there.

I agree with the two comments above, I'm now also on my second AX GT, its 12 months older than my previous one and its in better condition. It sounds as if you have a bit of a dud. If its so bad, why did you buy it?

I don't think your comment is at all a fair description of the AXGT. OK, so yours had problems, doesn't mean every AX has those same problems. And the hot water bottle thing is the first I've heard about it, like I said one cars problems doesn't mean every other car in the range will experience them. Sounds to me you've just brought a neglected one.
No mention of the speed of the car or the excellent handling? A fair and rounded view of the AXGT, I don't think so.
