2008 Citroen C5 VTR + 1.6 HDi
Summary:
Comfortable, stylish, but not that reliable, though cheap enough to run
Faults:
Injectors caused the biggest problem and most expensive; the car went into limp home mode and mechanic said after diagnostics an injector needed replaced, cost just over £400 all in all.
The car wouldn't start one day, replaced battery as precaution but it did it again a few weeks later. Never done it since, strange, and that was 6 months ago.
Usual wear and tear for higher mileage, brakes, wheel bearings, etc.
Inside some electrical gremlins, but nothing serious.
Cosmetically the car looks incredibly unmarked for 14 years old.
General Comments:
A very nice looking car in dark metallic grey and dark grey interior, the C5 really looks the part. Comfortable as well, seats are very nice, ride is as smooth as you can get.
Not very fast, this 1.6 HDi, but you will get over 50 mpg. Cheap to insure, repairs have been reasonable (apart from that injector) and the car is generally economical. Servicing is also cheap at my local garage. When it is running right the car is as good and cost effective as any in this class.
VTR + is a good spec, plenty of toys.
I like it, but just don't trust it! Might keep it another few years, it is in very good condition, won't be my daily driver though, just as a second car.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Don't Know

We had a couple of these C5's in the taxi service back circa year 2010. Good cars, underrated in our opinion, reliability is average but they were very comfortable, nice to drive and cheap to run.
