Idle tick-over needed to be adjusted for hot running.
In the normal driving position the dip/main beam indicator lights are hidden by your hands.
Braking is not as good as on a BX in both ABS and non-ABS models.
Large blind spots when reversing.

Executive looking power, for budget buyers
Cracked front fog light.
Put a spoiler on the back, black-out the windows, reconfigure the chip, install in-car TV systems, and big speakers in then this is one mean, SPORTY DIESEL!
Although it was perfectly OK when I bought it.

Very poor
Front disks @ 1 year.
Occasional random dashboard indicators.
Rear suspension @ 2 years.
Creaking clutch cable.
Creaking seat.
Front windscreen wipers park incorrectly.
Occasional blue smoke from the exhaust.. (sticking valve stem seal?)
Very disappointing car.
Poor fuel consumption (petrol).
Unreliable. Fails to instill confidence. The least reliable car I've ever had... even a Morris Marina was more reliable.
Desperate depreciation.
The dealer seems unable to fix intermittent faults.

To the previous poster, I've read your 8 or 9 comments on various Xantias, and whilst I do think you have a point, I do think you need to be a little less defensive lol! You appeared extremely defensive and abrupt when anyone said anything even remotely disparaging about their cars. Just keep calm hehe.
P.S - I've got a ZX TD and really like it.
Hi. I have had a Xantia "desire" for the last seven years, and although it doesn't "fire me up", it has been very reliable and economical. It has spent the last three-and-a-half years on the drive in all weather conditions, and has never failed to start. The only thing I have a grumble about is that there is a water leak somewhere and I can't find it; I think it might be in the roof under the roof-rack strips. When the weather gets better, I will take them off and reseal them.
I had an Xantia TD that leaked in the bottom left corner of the windscreen, common fault. I used some sealing liquid in it and it was fine after that, just a bit white coloured in that small area of screen. I think it is where the water had got into the lamination.
I had an Xantia 1.8 16v which used to start at -27 (2 AM) in Poland, without any drama. :)
Since purchase there has been a long delay between the accelerator pedal and the engine. About 1.5 seconds. When lifting off the engine speed actually rises before falling!
Has anyone else had this problem?
Citroen know all about it but refuse to admit there is a fault.
Otherwise an incredible car.

Front disks @ 1 year - something that is replaced on all cars after a while, they are used after all.
Rear suspension @ 2 years - that's about normal and nothing to badly rate the xantia.
Creaking clutch cable - needs some lubrication and will be fine!
Creaking seat - too much body weight?
Suggestion! buy a car that you have some information about instead of bad mouthing it with faults which aren't faults and normal things that happen to cars... dissapointing opinion!
