1991 Citroen XM Si 2.0
Summary:
Executive comfort relaxed drive economical
Faults:
Drive Shaft N/S (this was bent when I aquired the car)
Exhaust replaced at 67,000 miles.
New clutch fitted at 70,000 miles started to slip I think due to the previous owner towing a caravan.
Slight niggle electrical faults developed, all traced too bad earths. Replaced all earth spade connectors with crimped and soldered ring terminals bolted to body.
General Comments:
Very Economical over the 47,000 miles I have done in this car it has returned an average of 30.66 M.P.G.
Very comfortable both in the seats and ride even on a 500 mile round trip.
Very quick if you want to push it.
Holds the road well, with sports suspension activated it corners as if it's on rails, but you can frighten yourself.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

I have owned a car of this specification for 10 years now and never has it shown refusal to start. It was expensive to maintain but when everything was sorted out it became cheaper to maintain and is still running fine, but not on the road. It has had no work done on it for 3 and a half years and the suspension still goes up and down fine. The steering and the brakes work fine, it never seems to need more oil putting in and the LHM fluid level doesn't seem to be dropping.
My Ratings For This Car:-
I would definitely buy another Citroen.
Transmission:- 3.0 petrol
Performance out of 10:- 10
Reliability out of 10:- 9
Comfort out of 10:- 10
Dealer Service:- 8
Running Costs:- 9
I hardly ever took it to the main dealer as there is a man that works 2 miles from the dealer and does a much better job than the dealer ever does.
