1994 Citroen ZX Volcane TD 1.9 turbo diesel
Summary:
A perfect combination of performance, economy and longevity
Faults:
Nothing other than general wear and tear items (Tyres, Brakes, Exhaust) up until the 100,000 mile mark.
Since then, the electrics have started playing up.
Constantly changing headlight/sidelight bulbs.
All but 1 of the dashboard bulbs have blown.
Remote Central locking system doesn't seem to like damp conditions - it unlocks and then immediately locks up again. I have to bypass the remote and open it using the key - a little annoying but I'm getting used to it.
Mechanically, this car has not given me any problems whatsoever. It has the original clutch and it feels like there's quite a few thousand miles left in it still.
General Comments:
The Turbo Diesel engine must be one of the best, being a perfect combination of performance, economy and longevity.
The car handles better than any other I've owned and I just know I'm going to have a problem finding a replacement when the time eventually comes to change - not something I'm considering for a long time yet mind! I'll put up with the electrical problems which pale into insignificance when I consider what the rest of the car has to offer.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

I still have the car - probably the best I have owned.
The cylinder head and gasket were replaced at 111k.
The oil cooler started to mix a small amount of oil with the cooling water - sorted by visit to scrap-yard.
I have just replaced the radiator, and the rear rubber mountings for the rear axle, 131k miles.
No rust on body, but a few creaks from the plastic panels at the rear, 48 mpg and great to drive.
