1998 Daewoo Matiz SE 0.8
Summary:
An absolute lemon, don't touch it with a barge pole
Faults:
Rear number plate and interior light not functioning from delivery.
Within one year I had to take the car back to the dealer 7 times for the same problem, the car kept on stalling at traffic lights, finally tracked down to the immobiliser.
Passenger door lock is very hard to open from the inside.
Had a head gasket replaced at only 11,000 miles.
Dealer service is awful, don't expect them to call back, even worse it takes 6 weeks to get a courtesy car, so pray your car will last if it has to go in, otherwise enjoy public transport.
The ride is harsh.
General Comments:
A cute car.
Very nippy.
Problems outweigh the good points, never will I buy a Daewoo again, I have persuaded many others not to buy it, and I hope after reading this you don't as well.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? No

The car is absolute masterpiece. In my 9 years of ownership, nothing wrong till now, nothing means nothing.
It give me mileage of 17 to 18 in city with A/C, & 22 to 23 on highway. What else can a person want from a 796 cc small but powerful engine.
I'm a very proud owner of a Daewoo Matiz. I hope Daewoo starts its operations again in my country, they made the best cars till now.

I have had a Matiz for 3 years. Its mileage is 45,000 kms and when considering Malta is only 26 kms long that is quite a lot.
So far I have had a totally trouble free experience, and would recommend it. Malta's roads are non existent as any tourist to Malta can confirm. Notwithstanding this I have had no trouble. I only effected the normal services and changed the brake pads after 20,000 kms.
Although small, I have managed to fit 5 average sized adults, 1 10 year old child, 1 3 year old, a baby and a carry cot in the booth.
This car is great to travel in, to own and to park.
I would recommend it to anyone especially now that the Daewoo mother company has been bought by GM.
Mark.
