1994 Ford Fiesta Freestyle 1.1

Summary:

Fantastic

Faults:

Had a fault with the throttle housing and starting from cold. A full service sorted it out.

Replaced tyres and wiper blades.

Replaced drivers door lock.

Replaced exhaust.

General Comments:

For a nine year old runaround car its brilliant. Nippy, economical, still looks good, I got an absolute bargain.

Keep on top of the servicing and the day to day running things and it will not let you down.

1994 Ford Fiesta Si 1.4

Summary:

A gem

Faults:

The clutch went after 24000 miles.

General Comments:

This car, although now dated in its looks, is an absolute dream. In 20 years this girl will be deemed a classic. I've been from Blighty to Poland and back twice in mine and it handles itself with pride on both the autobahn and the streets with equal pride.

BUY ONE if you see one on sale. Mine is now worth only 1000 quid tops, but it would take 8 grand or more to find an equal and 12 to better.

Nice one, Si's are such mental little motors,

I'm looking into purchasing one at some point. They have so much class.

Great Motor.

1994 Ford Fiesta 1.1i 1.1

Summary:

Very Unreliable wee car

Faults:

Alternator failure (twice)

Fuel Pump failure

Courtesy Lights have never worked

Exhaust full of holes

'Mayonnaise' dischargh in oil filler.

General Comments:

This vehicle is usually marketed as 'an ideal first car' however, there is a widely reported problem with the fuel injection system which leaves many drivers with a difficult to start car or a car that cuts-out shortly after driving. This seems to be quite common. I have had various problems with the electrics and the head-gasket is on it's way out. I am selling my Fiesta tomorrow (hooray!!) and would never buy another one again. The one plus point for me was that scrap-yards are full of these and parts are, therefore, very easy (and cheap) to come buy.

1994 Ford Fiesta Finesse 1.1 injection

Summary:

Absolutely pathetic

Faults:

New injector.

New front bearings.

Had to replace sump.

Leak in door seal.

Slack eccelerator pedal.

New clutch.

New tires.

Electrics went e.g. interior light would not go on and lights would not go on.

Paint work is rusting.

New battery needed.

Many other niggling faults.

General Comments:

This car is absolutely pathetic. The acceleration is only good in 1st gear after that you have no power what so ever.

The car is comfortable for about half an hour then you must get out to stretch your legs!

The car looks good, but when you start it up you realize its just all looks.

When doing 60 on a carriage way or 70 on a motorway the car sounds like its in neutral.

Feels like the cars going to blow over in even a slightly strong wind.

Ford really does stand for fix or repair daily when it comes to this car as it has a new fault each day.

An OK first car as long as you are prepared to fork out to pay for the problems.

I average about 45 miles per gallon on this car so its cheap to keep in this respect.

There is no excuse for rust. All it takes is a vehicle maker to galvanise the body.

1994 Ford Fiesta Freestyle 1.1 CFi

Summary:

Dagenham Dustbin. A complete waste of money!

Faults:

Fuel filter, air filter and oil filter need replacing every 1500 miles or car becomes sluggish. (£50)

Ford service is extortionate, and is required every 9000miles (£190 plus parts)

Clutch required replacing at 89000 mile service (£80)

Tensioner for clutch replaced at 91030 miles (£32)

Lower arms (wishbones) started to give way and required replacing at 95300 miles (£230)

Head Gasket diminished at 96510 miles

(still not replaced, quoted at £450)

General Comments:

Worst purchase ever, be wary of these cars even if they have a full service history.

Fuel consumption is terrible, 14 liters of petrol will only get you 57 miles when averaging 60mph.

Unreliable on cold or even slightly damp mornings. The car will either fail to start completely, or it will start and then cut out when you start moving.

Interior is okay, seats are comfortable.

Handling is okay if the road surface isn't damp or wet. Under really wet conditions, it will slide all over the road.

Are you having a laugh? It's almost gone round the clock! What are you expecting from a little car like this?

You want a mile-muncher get:

A) A Diesel

B) A car designed for it.

Sounds like you got a really bad example there mate. I have a 1.1CFi Freestyle and I can push a good 60-70 miles out of a FIVER in my car even with carriageway driving.
