1995 Ford Fiesta Si 1.6 16v

Summary:

Understated sports car, good fun, and insurance friendly against an XR2i

Faults:

Bulbs keep blowing.

Exhaust rattle at very high revs.

Engine hesitates occasionally due to fueling problems.

General Comments:

Is reasonably fast, needs a 2. 0 litre conversion soon.

Good on fuel after owning a BMW.

Good top end, about 125mph.

Interior is brilliant, one of the best Ford have made besides leather.

Handles very well, needs lowering, body rolls too much when pushed.

I think there must be something wrong with your speedo, as there's no way an si can go this fast!.book speed must be about 105 mph.

20th Jun 2001, 06:56

The book speed doesn't mean anything!!

30th Jul 2001, 09:04

The book speed is 110, it will do 110 maybe 115 on a slight downhill, but not 125.

Sorry mate.

1995 Ford Fiesta Si 1.6i

Summary:

A cheaper warm hatch alternative

Faults:

Mainly wear and tear things:

Brake pads.

3 wiper blades.

Washer pump.

General Comments:

This is a good little car that can scream up to the red line. The only downside is there is very little low down grunt which is reflected in the 0-60 times. Compared to the Pug which was the 1.4 AX GT engined model with 8 valves, it seems quite sluggish. However the top end is very good and has surprised one or two reps who have been parked on my rear bumper on the motorway, once I've given it a bootfull.

The car is very reliable and compared to the Pug it drives like the much newer car than it is. I have to do quite a lot of miles for my job and the quietness on the motorway at 80 is a godsend. However a small tank and 33mpg (driving conservatively) means that it spends quite a lot of time in Sainsbury's filling station!!!

1995 Ford Fiesta Si 1.6i 16v petrol

Faults:

Nothing!

General Comments:

This car kicks ass, my first car was a peugeot XS 1.4 and the Fiesta is miles better to drive. Although they are more or less on par for performance, the Si has slightly more power mid range and a lot more top end. On motorways I found that the Si was using 600 -800 revs less at 80mph and used a lot less petrol. BUY ONE!!

1995 Ford Fiesta Si 1.6 16v Zetec

Faults:

Nothing at the moment except wear and tear, and the exhaust rusts too quickly.

General Comments:

A great fun car to drive, sticks to the road like glue, but I think the wheels and lowered suspension help.

Performance is good, but could be better than the standard 90bhp that Ford gave it. There is not a lot of mod potential but an induction kit is recommended - gives that nice induction roar from the quiet standard engine, plus get a stainless steel exhaust - 4 inch tailpipe looks nice and sounds great!!!!!!

Hi there.

How low did you make it, as I think the handling could be better at high speeds.

Did you use proper suspension or cut it? thanks tim.

Summary:

Great, a must for all Ford lovers

Faults:

Nowt - owned it for five days before writing it off!

General Comments:

Great fun to drive, fast, goes around corners like it's on rails. Very nice. I could tell you more but I only had the thing 5 days and wrote it off cause some stupid woman in a taxi pulled out on me, not to worry, getting another - NOVA CREW BE AWARE.

Are you from newcastle???

1995 Ford Fiesta Si 1.6 16v Zetec

Summary:

Reliable and decent performance

Faults:

Nothing beyond wear and tear. Front tyres / wiper blades / front pads.

General Comments:

Do anyone's front wheels (standard alloys) touch the arches on full lock? Causing the tyres to wear rapidly on the inside edges (only noticed when new tyres were fitted). But the old tyres were worn on the inside edges.

You must have a knackered suspension mate.

Or maybe you are using 15 inch+ wheels with the standard tyres.

If you are using 15's, use 195 45 15's, I have these and no rubbing.
