1998 Ford Fiesta Endura-E 1.3

Summary:

Not bad, Not bad at all

Faults:

My ford car has so far only had a few teething problems, the interior has a peculiar smell due to it being left in the show room for so long.

The rear windscreen wiper has failed from a bad connection.

The spare tire has worn down to a smoot surface all over.

Starting the engine takes up a lot of fuel, so much that it is noticeable on the car fuel monitor dile.

General Comments:

This car can pull away with the best of them, in a real hurry a wheel spin is easy, I often do them by mistake when I am in a rush.

The sitting area is very open leaving plenty of room for you to get on with driving, but it does leave you feeling open to getting hurt.

The buttons inside the car such as heating and radio are nice and stylish.

The speakers that come with the car are amazing considering they are the originals, although it is weird having no speakers in the back of the car.

1998 Ford Fiesta Zetec 1.25i

Summary:

A really really nice car

Faults:

Not much really brake disks went rusty. And I've had 2 flat tyres, but overall fine.

General Comments:

A nice car to drive very comfortable interior looks very nice especially the white dials. performs well to the 16v makes it go very well. The handling is also very good very wide tyres on the mother so it grips like a lump of lard.

"grips like a lump of lard"

A lump of lard is possibly a bad description to use, since lard does not grip very well at all - infact it slides. The wide tyres would mean that the car grips well, I think is what you meant to comment on.

1998 Ford Fiesta 1.3

Summary:

Overall, an average car, probably best for city driving

Faults:

The rear brake drum started leaking fluid, but is now repaired. This could possibly have occurred after slightly heavy braking.

Suspension seems to be dry and creaks. This problem was resolved, but has reoccurred.

Water has been leaking from the cooling system onto the engine and forming a crusty deposit of anti-freeze.

General Comments:

The brakes seem to wear down quite quickly. Whether this is because I might be braking heavily I don't know, but it is quite annoying.

The engine works well. For a 1.3 it has quite good power. However when the car gets fuller the power decreases quite a bit.

The tracking could be out, but the steering does wobble slightly at high speeds.

I think the gear ratio is set up more for acceleration. Revs seem to be high at faster speeds and the engine seems to scream a bit.

This car is small. Leg room in the back isn't very suitable for taller people when the front seats are slid back.

1998 Ford Fiesta Ghia 1.25 16v Zetech

Summary:

Not a racers choice

Faults:

Bulbs keep blowing.

Central locking went cockeyed.

Tracking was out of line when I bought it.

General Comments:

Very fast car for a small engine. The cabin is very comfortable and has wood trim round the dash. Theres an awful lot of extras with this car.

1998 Ford Fiesta LX 1.25 Zetec S

Summary:

Great starter car, reliable and cheap to run.

Faults:

Interior mirror has fallen off. Needed glue pad from Ford Dealer.

Front brake discs and pads wear out at an alarming rate - every year or 10,000 to 15,000 miles. When Fiestas were first used by the Metropolitan Police they were going through discs and pads every 5,000 miles!

Rear silencer box needed re-welding after 3 years and now front silencer box join has holed.

General Comments:

Good fuel economy. I get about 330 miles from a tank at 70mph motorway speeds which costs about £32.00 in petrol. Petrol costs around town are also about 10p per mile.

The seats are uncomfortable, too low and poorly curved (like most car seats). I am 5 feet 10 inches tall and my head is only centimeters from the roof.

The right leg of front seat passengers often gets in the way when changing gear.
