2000 Ford Fiesta LX Zetec 1.2L

Summary:

Reliable, but rusted away and not great on fuel

Faults:

This Ford Fiesta 2000 LX 1.2 was a reliable car; it never broke down. The problem with this car was it had rusted a lot. And it was not so good on fuel.

General Comments:

It's good. Takes me from to A to B. But rust is a very common on these Fiestas. Fuel was not great, but it's not that bad.

2000 Ford Fiesta Zetec 1.25 16v

Summary:

Brilliant little car, quick, reliable and cheap

Faults:

Pretty much nothing has ever gone wrong with this car.

Just the usual wear and tear parts. Recently had new brakes fitted, spark plugs, tyres and that's it. Oh, and an oil change.

Suppose the steering wheel starting to wear is a bad point, but again that's wear and tear. It is a 7 year old car.

General Comments:

Brilliant little car, I went from a 1.6 16v Megane Coupe and a 1.6 Sport Astra to the Fiesta, and I immediately noticed how economical it is on fuel.

I've left 1.4 206s and a 1.9 diesel Punto standing off the start, and even top end it's incredibly nippy for a small engine.

Seats get a bit uncomfortable on long journeys, especially down motorways, as I have noticed recently.

I never used to like Fords because of their reputation for putting together poor quality cars, but it's probably the most reliable car I've had. So reliable that I'm going to buy a 07 Plate Fiesta TDCi Zetec S in December.

Agree with all comments. My 1242 engine is superb. It's a 15 year old Zetec model on an S plate. Usual new parts through wear and tear.

2000 Ford Fiesta Zetec S 1.6 16v

Summary:

Good reliable car, with a little punch when you want it

Faults:

Heater control valve and thermostat housing went about 3 months into owning the car. The HCV is a common fault, however £20 later and a little handy work, and this was fixed, giving me both hot air and cold air, instead of just hot. Apart from that, she has been a little dream.

Please note there a number of quality control problems with this model:

Steering wheel fades

HCV

Suspension bushes wear quickly (better to replace with non ford parts)

Coil pack

Ummm there are others, but I cannot remember off the top of my head what they are.

General Comments:

Built quality is reasonable for a mass production car. Get the odd rattle and squeak, but at the end of the day the car is 8 years old, so I think this is expected.

Car handles well, both in the wet and the rain, and the performance isn't too bad for the size of the engine, and it returns decent mpg as long as you drive it well.

Interior is spacious considering the size of the car, and boot space is pretty good too.

The styling is nice, although a little boy racer like with the wheels and headlights.

Decent to insure (group 8). I'm 23 with 4 years no claims, and it's less than £400 a year fully comp.

I have done a lot of long journeys in this car, and the seat hold you well and give you decent support.

2000 Ford Fiesta Zetec-S 1.6 16v

Summary:

Excellent little car

Faults:

The only problem I had was the motor for changing from hot to cold air.

Other than that, I had it for 6 months and didn't spend a penny on it.

General Comments:

This was the best car I have ever owned. It's a 1.6 16v 125bhp and seriously lightweight; maybe too light, so that it spins in rain with little on the foot pedal.

Handling is good, but they need lowering slightly; never had mine done.

The clutch and gearbox were spot on, as Fords usually are.

Very sporty, decent interior, nice kit and rims as standard.

Pulls quite nice, and with a simple induction kit sounds awesome.

If you have the chance to buy one of these, I would get one. I'd have one tomorrow if I could afford it.
